Licenses For Manufacturer, Repairer, And Dealer Of Weights and Measures Items

1. No individual will make, fix or sell or offer, uncover or have for fix or deal, any weight or measure except if he holds a substantial permit gave by the Controller under sub-segment (2) Provided that no permit to fix will be needed by a maker for the fix of his own weight or measure in a State other than the State of production of the equivalent. 


2. With the end goal of sub-segment (1), the Controller will give a permit in such structure and way, on such conditions, for such period and such territory of purview and on the installment of such charge as might be endorsed. Concentrate from Rule 11, 12 and 13 of Meghalaya Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011 

Authorizing Of Manufacturer, Repairer, And Dealer Of Weights And Measures – 

1. Each maker or repairer of, or seller in, weight or measure will make an application for the issue of a permit to the Controller Legal Metrology or such other Officer as might be approved by him for this benefit, in the proper structure set out in Schedule II-A. Provided that no permit to fix will be needed by a producer to fix weight or measure fabricated by him and utilized in a state other than the condition of production of the equivalent, yet the maker needs to advise ahead of time the concerned legitimate metrology official about the fixing. Given further that non-ancestral maker/repairer/seller who works a business in the Sixth Scheduled Areas of Meghalaya will get Trading License from the individual Autonomous District Councils of the State of Meghalaya. 

2. Each producer or repairer of, or vendor in weight or measure will make an application for the reestablishment of a permit inside thirty days before the expiry of the legitimacy of the permit to the Controller Legal Metrology or such other official as might be approved by him for this benefit, in the fitting structure set out in Schedule II-B. 

3. Each permit gave to a producer, repairer or seller will be in the fitting structure set out in Schedule III. 

4. Each permit gave to a maker, repairer, or vendor will be legitimate for a base time of one schedule year and might be restored for a time of one to five years, by the Controller or such other Officer as might be approved by him for this sake on the installment of every year expenses as indicated in the Schedule IV. 

5. The charge payable for the adjustment of a permit or for the issue of a copy permit will be one portion of the permit expense as determined in Schedule IV. Given that an extra charge at full rates indicated in Schedule IV will be payable by the candidate on the off chance that he is allowed by the Controller to make an application for the recharging of a permit inside a time of a quarter of a year from the date of expiry of the permit. 

6. The Controller or such other official as might be approved by him for this sake will keep up a register of authorized producers, sellers, and repairers in the structure set out in Schedule V. 

7. Each producer/repairer or seller authorized under the Act and under these principles will keep up such workshop/hardware/devices/registers and so forth by and large, according to the terms and states of the license. 

8. Each repairer authorized under the Act and under these Rules will outfit a security store for each permit to the State Government as indicated in Schedule VI. 

9. Each permit gave or recharged under this Act will be shown in an obvious spot in the premises where the licensee carries on business. 

10. A permit gave or recharged under this Act will not be saleable nor adaptable.
