Learn how to find a job in accounting

by Groshan Fabiola I try to cover as many topics as I can
For as long as you can remember, you have wanted to be an accountant. While other kids were fascinated about chemistry and physics, you were captivated by numbers. Saying that you were good at Math is an understatement. You were one of the very best. Your Math skills as well as your computer skills recommend you for the profession. And your ambition. You have an accounting degree, but you do not have a job. Despite the fact that there is a growing need for accountants in London, you have not managed to secure employment. If you have been searching for accountancy jobs in the classified ads section in the newspaper, do not be surprised that you have been unsuccessful. Companies do not use the newspaper to advertise open positions anymore. They post jobs in London on the Internet, so that everyone can have access to them.

Job boards are not what they used to be. If you have never come across this term before, you need to know that a job board is a panel featuring ads coming from various companies. As you can imagine, these advertisements address prospective employees. Job boards were used to a great extent in town halls and universities. Thanks to the Internet, it is no longer necessary to advertise open positions on panels. The employment offerings can be communicated on the Internet. Online job boards have the same purpose as traditional ones. More precisely, they are meant to be informative. Nowadays, when you hear the word job board, you automatically think about a website. Attention needs to be paid to the fact that these websites are nothing like search engines. The difference lies in the fact that they can send they application through the online platform. There are though sites that do not have this functionality.

The question now is how you use this tool to your advantage. If you want to work as an accountant, you have to have a great resume. Having a good CV is not helpful anymore. If your resume is not great, employers will not even look at it. So, make sure you polish it. There is no need to threat about lack of work experience. You have done some volunteering in your student years. Plus, companies are more interested in what you can do. If your CV says that you’re willing to get involved and take on challenges, you will be called for an interview. When you do get called, you should not have an incomplete resume or, worse, one that contains spelling mistakes. Look over it a couple of times. You are spoilt when it comes to employment offers. You can filter the search according to many criteria, but relevance is not one of them. You are the one who has to decide if a job offer is good for you. Or if you are a good match for the company. No one can help you in this respect, so you will have to figure out things on your own.
