Jump In Croydon Property Prices As Regeneration Continues Apace

by Liz Seyi Digital marketing manager

According to research from Hometrack, residential property prices in Croydon rose by more than a tenth during the 12 months to September 2016.

The most marked price increase has been observed for flats, with a total growth of 14.2 percent in comparison to last year’s prices. The average price of a terraced property has also heightened, by an impressive 11.7 percent.

Despite this spike in house prices, Croydon is still one of the most affordable boroughs of London in which to live. For those wishing to get onto the richly rewarding London property ladder, Croydon is therefore one of the most advantageous places to invest.

Bringing regeneration to the area

Croydon has undergone significant development in the past few years as the local economy has continued to strengthen. Many millions of government funding have been invested in the town, helping to create a large number of jobs.

Plans for future development may have further helped to stoke the desirability of Croydon property. Croydon Vision 2020, for example, is an extensive collection of regeneration programmes lined up for Croydon, with £3.5 billion having been ploughed into the area.

ISLAND was one of the programmes under Croydon Vision 2020’s umbrella, with the elegant 20-storey tower consisting of highly sought-after residential properties at a competitive price, helping customers to live in luxury without breaking their budget.

Other ongoing projects include a £1 billion revamp of the Whitgift Centre and Centrale shopping centre, slated for completion by 2018. With so many exciting urban developments planned for Croydon, local house prices could continue to reach towering new heights for decades to come.

Even when these regeneration programmes are not considered, Croydon is an increasingly attractive place to live, with a wealth of enthralling recreational opportunities and extensive transport links with the rest of London. Trams are freely available and the over-ground train service enables commuters to travel to the farther reaches of Greater London.
