by Vaibhav Goyal Ayurvedic Kidney Treatment

Kidney failure happens when the kidneys are not able to eliminate toxins, and the kidney function goes beyond the limit. Hence, it is important that you treat it with the help of Kidney failure treatment in Ayurveda, to avoid the need to rely on dialysis for survival.

Kidney failure happens when your kidneys are not able to separate waste from the blood, thereby causing toxins to buildup in the bloodstream. The situation is quite overwhelming as most of your organs need blood for carrying out the relevant work. The heart is the prominent organ that needs blood for transporting to various other parts. Kidney failure may even become a risk factor for heart failure. Hence, it is important that a way is chosen that can help to rejuvenate your kidneys once again. Other than dialysis or organ transplant, Ayurveda is the best way to curb out kidney failure naturally. The Kidney failure treatment in Ayurveda helps to relieve the signs of damaged kidneys and improve their kidney. When taking Ayurvedic treatment you will notice your GFR rate increasing and other kidney function measurement parameters improving.

Your kidneys are the organs that come up with the cleaning of the blood, produce red blood cells, and regulating blood pressure in the body. But when they become damaged, they are not able to keep up with their work and slowly lose their functioning. Each of the kidneys is made up of a million filters called nephrons. Each nephron further includes blood vessels called glomerulus and a tubule. The function of the nephrons is carried out in two-way; the glomerulus filters the blood and tubule return important substances to your blood.

What are the signs of kidney failure?

Usually, a patient of kidney disease is not able to diagnose the signs of damage in the early stages and till he detects the signs, the condition progresses to the late stage also called end-stage renal disease. Sometimes in the initial stages, no signs are present. But the possible signs that should not be overlooked are:

  • a reduced amount of urine
  • swelling of your legs, ankles, and feet from retention of fluids caused by the failure of the kidneys to eliminate water waste
  • unexplained shortness of breath
  • excessive drowsiness or fatigue
  • persistent nausea
  • confusion
  • pain or pressure in your chest
  • seizures
  • coma

In the initial stages, the subtle signs that appear are:

  • Decrease urine output
  • Fluid retention also leads to swelling of the hands, feet, ankles
  • Sometimes puffy eyes can also be observed
  • Shortness of breath

What are the causes of kidney failure?

Kidney failure develops because of the underlying conditions that obstruct the working of the kidneys. People who are at the risk of kidney failure happen to have one or more of the following risk factors:

Loss of blood flows to the kidneys

A decrease in blood flow also increases the risk of kidney damage. Some conditions that can obstruct the flow of the blood to the kidneys include:

  • A sudden heart stroke
  • Scarring of the liver tissue
  • Lack of fluid in the body
  • A severe burn
  • An allergic reaction in the body
  • Conditions such as sepsis

A blockage in the urine elimination process

When the body is not able to pass urine naturally, toxins that are ought to be passed along with the urine overload in the kidneys. This happens because of the conditions like:

  • Prostate cancer
  • Cervical cancer
  • Bladder infection or cancer
  • Colon cancer

Other conditions that cause difficulty in the urine elimination process include an enlarged prostate, blood clot, and kidney stones.

The chances of getting kidneys failed also increases as you age as the number of nephrons decreases in number after the age of 30. Moreover, excess consumption of alcohol and drugs can also increase the risk of kidney failure.

What are the types of kidney failure?

The five types of kidney failure include:

  1.  Acute prerenal kidney failure: Caused by insufficient blood flow to the kidneys
  2. Acute intrinsic kidney failure: Results because of direct trauma to the kidneys
  3. Chronic prerenal kidney failure: Insufficient blood flow for an extended period also cause ESRD
  4. Chronic intrinsic kidney failure:   Severe bleeding or lack of oxygen also causes end-stage renal disease
  5. Chronic post-renal kidney failure: Any blockage in the urinary tract infections prompt kidney failure

Eating right to prevent kidney failure

Managing kidney problems is extremely important to prevent kidney failure in the future. Your kidneys are the organs that can come up with healing when you count on a healthy diet. When your kidneys are mildly damaged, you must take well care of them with a better diet plan and Kidney failure treatment in Ayurveda. Being regular in your diet and Ayurvedic medications can put a period on the increasing risk of progression to end-stage renal failure.

Some dietary modifications include:

  • Limit sodium in your meals. Even if you are not a kidney patient, you should not exceed sodium intake beyond 2300 mg per day. Sodium increases the risk of hypertension and if you have high blood pressure then it may further raise hypertension and so affect your kidney disease.
  • With a decrease in kidney function, the kidneys can't pass the large molecules of protein through their damage filters. Protein further damages your kidneys and so a kidney patient should eat high-protein sources of foods in a restricted manner.
  • Phosphorus and potassium: Similarly, potassium and phosphorus are hard to be eliminated by your damaged kidneys. Every fruit and vegetable contains potassium, so it is better to leach them before consuming or try to soak them before consuming.
  • Limit your fluid intake: In the early stages of CKD, the kidneys are not able to pass urine naturally. Hence, it is better to watch out for fluid intake to prevent flooding your body with water.

Kidney failure treatment in Ayurveda

In the late stages of CKD, the kidneys cannot rejuvenate only by improving a diet as you will need a treatment that can work on your kidneys. The Ayurvedic medicines act on the underlying causes of the damaged cells and tissues. These medications enhance the imbalance in the bodily channels responsible for the elimination of fluid to and fro from the kidneys.  The herbs like Kaasni, Punarnava, Shirish, Mutrakrichantak Churna, Gokshuradi Guggulu, etc help to balance the imbalance in the mutravaha srotas and then cure the disease.
