Is Inpatient or Outpatient Rehab Right for My Addiction?

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

In the midst of an overwhelming substance addiction, finding suitable drug rehab doesn’t have to be a difficult decision. Facing addiction is an intricate and personal period of life that should not become a lonesome burden. Multiple resources are available to healthily eliminate unwanted addictions depending on a person’s addiction and lifestyle.

Finding the right option begins with knowledge of the key differences between residential and outpatient drug rehab. Though both options aid in the addiction recovery process, each offers unique approaches that may be more proficient to heal one’s unique addiction.

Inpatient treatment is a common resource utilized amongst addicts. This option of rehabilitation should be considered for addicts who are beginning the detoxification process and are seeking further counseling or therapy treatments to combat their cravings. Inpatient drug rehab can last anywhere between 28 and 90 days—or, if needed, more extended visits, depending on the addict’s level of need.

Checking into an inpatient rehab program will protect an addict from the potential dangers of the outside world by providing residency at the facility. Giving addicts the opportunity to focus on their futures, relationships, careers and medical needs without the real-world pressures of substance addiction. This program can potentially speed recovery time and increase therapeutic healing.

Another drug rehab solution is admittance as an outpatient. Though this option is more finance-friendly due to lack of resident and amenities fees, outpatient recovery still offers support and treatments for addicts who cannot commit to inpatient recovery. As outpatients, addicts can maintain stable employment and have access to moral support from relatives and close friends.

Reports Rehabs.com, “The risk of relapse is also higher for outpatient programs because access to drugs and alcohol is not limited.” However, with access to the outside world, outpatients can practice the skills and lessons acquired through the recovery program first-hand.

A study from TheCleanSlate.org states that the average price for a 28-day admittance to rehab is priced over $25,000. If the facility offers on-site detoxification, the average price jumped to approximately $27,400. However, rehabilitation facilities that did not offer detox services averaged a lower price of roughly $15,500. Such expenses can be challenging to afford, but the freedom and self-control gained through recovery is worth more than the price of hopeless addiction.

Currently, more insurance companies than ever before are beginning to help with the coverage of inpatient and outpatient drug rehabilitation. Cost-efficient options still exist if finances do not allow for proper care and treatment. Consider seeking support from religious organizations, non-profit groups or charities to help kill off a harmful drug addiction.
