Is hiring a food truck more affordable than a full-service caterer?

by FOOD TRUCK SPACES Creating Infrastructure Where There Once Was None

Food truck catering is a trend that has swept our nation in the recent years. These awesomely designed trucks that serve mouth-watering food have become enormously popular across the U.S. No wonder why many people are considering hiring them for all kinds of events (private parties, corporate affairs, wedding receptions, you name it!).

Despite their overwhelming popularity, though, many people are still curious about food truck prices – or if they are really affordable, especially when compared with traditional catering options.

First off, the nationwide average per-guest cost for professional catering is anywhere between $60 and $70. The same drops to $20-$25 with food truck catering. So, let’s assume you’re inviting 100 guests to your private event, hiring a food truck would cost you around $2,000-$2,500, compared with $6,000-$7,000 for a traditional catering company.

It’s as plain as day that hiring a food truck is pretty affordable. But not all food trucks are same and prices definitely vary between different types. For example, a cheeseburger truck will naturally be less expensive than say, a lobster roll truck. There are other factors that could affect the cost of hiring as well, such as, the number of guests, amount of food being served, the number of hours the food truck will serve, etc.

In conclusion, food truck booking for events is undoubtedly more affordable than a traditional catering company, but expecting rock bottom prices is not realistic.
