Is doing a pharmacy course better from India or from abroad?

Many students in India after completing their graduation in the Pharmacy program, have this question in mind, whether pursuing a pharmacy course is better in India or abroad, they often have doubts in context to pharmacy scope, career growth, expenses, and most importantly salary packages. According to me, this is a very selective and personal choice as there are various factors down the pipeline that comes into play. You must pay attention to this both before planning to study abroad as well as after joining.  

If we talk about pursuing pharmacy as a career in India, it should be preferred from a good renowned Institution. Pharmacy has emerged as one of the best and popular fields to study after the expansion of the healthcare sector across the globe. So, choosing a career like pharmacy not only makes your career better towards the healthcare society but also expands the horizon accepting from the ample number of pharmacy courses. It will depend on your acumen and interest. You can choose Diploma, Undergraduate courses, Post-Graduate & Doctorate courses in Pharmacy.

Job opportunities in India are huge for pharmacy due to large openings of pharmaceuticals companies as well as outstanding research programs. Numerous jobs are available for pharmacy graduates as well as postgraduates in the government sector as well as corporate. Once your studies are done, you can easily find jobs in pharmaceutical industries, government departments, academics in colleges and universities, hospitals, research institutes, etc. Currently sales & marketing job sectors have tremendous hiring of pharmacy graduates with handsome packages. 

According to my knowledge, it does not matter from where you are doing your pharmacy course the thing that matters is where you are doing a job i.e., in India or abroad. If you are a resident of India and you have no roots abroad, i.e., you might be the first one to study from abroad then it could be challenging as well as exciting to some points. Most importantly you have to decide which country to go, then comes the field you want to choose for further research studies.

So, if you want to settle down abroad then you can choose Pharm. D i.e., Doctorate in Pharmacy which is similar to B. Pharm & M. Pharm courses combined but they do not have much scope in India. It does have a much wider scope abroad than India. If you are financially strong enough you can either opt U.S.A., Canada or any other country suitable to your research or university & expenses. It totally depends upon the college or country to provide the stipend either partial or full. But then there is serious competition out there and it’s difficult to fight, especially for the international students. The job opportunities abroad are wide in almost every field of pharmacy. So I would suggest you decide along with your feasibility and keep in mind the factors that are involved. Then simply go for it!
