Overview

From a teen-aged girl to young women, everyone is different, including her periods. Some face them on time, while some face irregular, missed and unpredictable menses. An ordinary day count for a woman getting her periods is between 24 to 38 days and it usually lasts for about 2 to 8 days. If someone is not facing the same for a long period of time, it can be irregular menses and it is necessary to treat them.

Irregular Menses Problems
Let's understand it in a detailed manner. In the fertile life of a woman, the eggs get matured within the ovaries which typically remains for 28 days, though the time varies from woman to woman along with period to period. When the fifth day of the cycle begins, near about 20 eggs proceed to mature in the follicles of the ovaries. Such follicles look like a small fluid-filled sac. When the arrival of the fourteenth day approaches, one follicle gets matured earlier generally as compared to the other ones and releases its matured egg to get fertilized. The other follicles are dried out and reabsorbed by the body.

The matured follicle gets transformed into corpus luteum that is responsible for producing the progesterone hormone to arrange the uterus in receiving the fertilized egg. If the egg is not fertilized, it falls apart and dies. On the other hand, the corpus luteum shrivels. It results in shedding the lining of the uterus known as endometrium, causing bleeding of menstruation.
An irregular cycle of menses can be a complicated issue to fix. Hormones of women are impacted by numerous factors as well as bodily systems. It has been said that frequently missed periods for an expanded period of time is a relatively common condition which means that many women face irregular menses on an off throughout their reproductive years.

Irregular Menses Causes

There are different causes responsible for bringing irregular menses in the life of a woman. There can be lifestyle reason affiliated with this problem. The first cause can be stress. If a person is stressed even at home, workplace or other areas of life, it can affect the hormones as well as hypothalamus that is a part of the brain responsible for controlling the periods. It is also considered as one of the common irregular menses causes.

Another cause can be weight loss or weight gain. Sudden modifications in the weight can change the functioning of the body and there can be chances to stop ovulation. Even too much exercise has severe adverse effects on the body and it can also bring stoppage in the periods. People have less idea about the fact that working in evening and night can affect the internal biological clock and period of a woman.

Along with lifestyle factors, there are some medical reasons behind irregular menses like pregnancy. Another reason can be PCOS that is able to upset the hormone levels of the body. Early menopause and an overactive or underactive thyroid can also make a contribution in causing late or irregular menses.

Irregular Menses Symptoms
A menstrual cycle generally lasts for 4 weeks, but it can vary from 24 days to even 35 days, depending upon the person. Most women contain 11 to 13 menstrual periods in an annual cycle. Bleeding generally remains for around 5 days, this it can also vary from 2 to 7 days. When there is a beginning of the menstrual cycle, about 2 years are expected to establish a regular cycle. Most women have regular menstruation after puberty.

One of the main symptoms of irregular menses is when the time gets longer than 5 weeks or if it varies in length. Even if a woman is experiencing a change in her blood flow, or if the clots are supposed to be more than 2.5 cm in diameter, it will also count as irregular.
Irregular Menses Treatment

Things like ovarian, pituitary, adrenal and thyroid glands along with the hypothalamus in the brain are all responsible for regulating menstruation and balancing hormones naturally. That's why it becomes crucial for a lady to pay attention to her lifestyle habits that can prove to have a negative effect on her hormonal levels. There are treatments of irregular menses based on the cause. A doctor can prescribe a lady to take oral contraceptives, thyroid medication, hormonal IUDs or vitamin D supplements.

He can also suggest you perform an exercise on a regular basis. Along with that, he may also guide weight loss or weight gain. In order to remove out stress, performing meditation, yoga, deep breathing, cutting back on work and other demands can also help a woman.
