Importance of Door Finger Protectors

by Safety Assured Find Best Door Safety Products

Door-related finger accidents are relatively commonplace, especially where children are involved. The actual statistics will vary by location and by a year, but the annual numbers are in the many thousands. Children aged four and under are most likely to suffer door injuries that may result in extreme pain and shock– with the worst case scenario being actual finger amputation.

Parents and facility owners can prevent finger trap injuries before they happen by installing door finger guards on all doors where children could get their fingers trapped. And, it’s not always the infants or the toddlers who get injured. Older children aged between 10 and 13 years routinely go through medical care in case their fingers get caught in doors. Adults, mostly those with memory loss or Alzheimer’s or other disabilities, can also suffer finger trap injuries as they may be unable to react quickly enough to move their hands and fingers out of the way of a slamming door.

For this reason, all child care facilities, daycares, schools, restaurants, hospitals, theatres and any other businesses (just to name a few) that have children as visitors, should take preventive measures to protect the kids and to minimize the risk of any associated legal action by installing door finger protectors. The same applies to all homes and apartments with younger children as well as retirement homes and senior centres.
