Hydraulic Pumps- All You Need to Know

by Sweta Shah HR Executive in Ambica Machine Tools
The motor and hydraulic pumps are used in highly refined machines nowadays. The modern world has seen a surge in the demand for refined machines (pumps) as a possible collapse can really result in a huge drain of money. The installation of a hydraulic pump that will easily convert the mechanical energy into hydraulic energy does not really spell the end of responsibilities for you. The machine that you have installed will have its problems and you have to make sure that you are able to find a reliable mechanic who is adept at his job, to sort things out for you. Please remember that a mechanic who has due experience in the relevant field will not really start disbanding the pump in order to conduct a hydraulic pressure test pump. He will initiate the entire process only after implementing the required tests that include rotation of the shaft test, pressure line test and flashlight test. Before getting in to the details of these tests it would only be useful to mention that there are generally different kinds of pumps in use, for example, rubber lined pump, centrifugal pump or else polypropylene pump etc. Some of the other types are:

•    Barrel pump
•    Magnetic drive polypropylene pump
•    Hydro test pump (hand and motor operated- separately)
•    Chemical process pump
•    Sewage/mud pump

Shaft rotation involves the use of pipe wrench with which the shaft is rotated a few times to test whether there is unwarranted vibration or not. If it’s found that the machine does have excess vibration then it has to be understood that there’s something wrong.

The flashlight test is performed to see whether there exist some chips inside the pipe or not. The tool is used to see through the casing whether such substances are lying inside or not. If they are detected then it can easily be understood that the machine has been subject to wear and tear. The air pressure line test is conducted to detect a defect in the rotary group.

Now that you have a fair idea about the hydraulic pressure testing pump, it would also be imperative on your part to make sure that the machine you’re installing at your place has been purchased with due care. In order to ensure that, you need to get in touch with manufacturers who have a reliable reputation in the market. Make sure that you are conducting a detailed market survey in this regard. Check out the equipments provided by the leading manufacturers in the present market. Go through their experience thoroughly as well. If the company enjoys fair reputation and experience to back its credentials, then it wouldn’t generally be hesitant in mentioning its clients in the website as well.
