How to motivate your team

by Dan Rob Project management Expert
You have been there. Working on a critical project that your company needed yesterday and your boss breathing on your neck to to ship the product as soon as humanly (or maybe inhumanly) possible. The customer is annoyed and calls everyday. How under these circumstances you keep you team motivated?
The answer is in making sure your team is vested in the result and can see the end result and the benefits. You want to make the project their project. They own it. You want to make sure they know they will get credit for the glory or shame if the project is finished successfully or not. You want to create an environment so people don't have ay problem staying longer at work to fish the job. If they need to work long hours, provide plenty of food and beverages. If they have to do something at home facilitate that. Believe me these cost will be very small compared to not shipping the product on time. I short do everything to create a family environment for the staff so they feel they are working for the common good. When the project is finished successfully, reward them as best as you can.
