How to Make Images Come Alive

by Kristen White Blogger

Lenticular is the name given to a printing technology in which printed objects appear 3D and change appearance when viewed from different angles. All the views of a scene, animal, or anything else are printed on a thermoplastic sheet of lenticular or concave that look like parallel ridges. The images are aligned as per the lens array with the help of specialized and high quality lithographic presses that are adjusted according to fine tolerances.

How lenticular printing came into being

Every attempt at advertising is meant to grab the customer’s attention at the earliest possible instance. The effectiveness of this is determined by how long its related image stays in the customer’s mind. If this image is impactful enough, it brings about the purchase decision soon. This is exactly what a 3D poster printing does. The image presents an illusion of depth, in addition to the image appearing different from different angles. 3D posters allow customers to interact with the design, creating greater scope for engagement.

Due to the revolutionary technology, advertisers nowadays are searching for high quality lenticular printing options. These options allow them to think of new ideas that can prevent customers from getting bored soon with the regular promotions. Several promotional items like book covers, magazines, bookmarks, stickers, fridge magnets, business cards, CD/DVD inserts, and of course posters can use lenticular technology.

Where is lenticular print used?

Most companies are interested for customers to take interest in their products and services, all of which can be made exciting through this revolutionary printing technology. Company branding teams can be assured that their customers will fall in love with the objects shown through this technology. Lenticular card printing is suitable for the following purposes:

· Business cards

· Postcards

· CD/DVD inserts

· Fridge magnets

· Posters

· Bookmarks

· Stickers

Different types of printing effects

Lenticular technology is able to showcase two main effects on images, which are animation and 3D. While the animations enable image frames to play in a manner similar to a motion picture projector, 3D makes visual elements appear different as per their spatial planes. Various printing effects have been described below:

· Flip- This technology switches visual elements of a picture off or on. One can use them for “before and after” scenarios.

· Zoom- Visual objects can be made to jump towards the viewing direction here. This is highly suitable for product marketing, making customer take attention easily.

· Morph- No ‘on and off’ effect takes place here, as opposed to the flip. One object manages to transform into another, making it suitable for a retroactive comparison.

· Full motion video- This is also called multi-phase since it uses many frames of an action or illustration, showing movement from the beginning to the end. It is quite similar to seeing a movie in the palm of the hand.

· Combinations- This allows the animator to combine more than one type of animations. 3D and Flip are commonly clubbed together. There is also the option to add flips to zooms and full motion videos.
