How To Make A Bedroom Brighter

by Elliot R. Freelance Writer Specialising In Business and Mark

Having a dark bedroom is great in the summer, it blocks the light out and helps you get to sleep. The issue is that it isn't always summer, and it certainly isn't sunny all year round. In fact, if you live in Britain, it's pretty miserable all year round. With rain and gloomy weather comes dull and dark skies. This makes the dark of our bedroom, and if your room is already dark, this is not ideal for getting ready in the mornings, you don’t want to be getting to work with odd-coloured socks or in a dirty top. Luckily, there are many innovative and stylish methods that can help make your bedroom brighter. They don’t have to be expensive as there are many places such as the Online Home Shop where you can pick up your essentials and give your room that bright appearance it needs.

Place Mirrors Close To Light Sources

It is a well-known fact that a mirror can be used to make a room look larger as well as brighter. People try to do this but unfortunately don't position the mirror correctly to get the full effect of the illusion. To use a mirror to maximise the brightness and extension, make sure you strategically position your mirror near a light source. If you have a big floor mirror or a large wall mirror, position this opposite a window to allow the mirror to enhance the natural light in the room. Placing table lamps near a window can also have the same effect. If you are going to do this, ensure the lights are ambience lights otherwise it will give off too much light for what you are after.

Pick Lighter Coloured Furnishing

Usually, we choose our furniture on our personal style and also what we think will look great with each other. Whilst this is important, you may want to start also thinking about how the furniture is going to affect the lighting levels in your bedroom. Have a small dark room? Well, a large black bed with dark grey wardrobes are not going to be the best way to style your bedroom. A stylish lighter natural coloured material will do much better. This is why many opt for light wood colours like oak and pine which last and look great with added layers of texture in the room. If you are not a fan of the wood look, you could opt for white furnishings or beige as it will make the room look much larger. A better option for your furnishings such as a TV stand may be better if they are made of a clear material such as glass or acrylic. Be prepared to dust a lot more if you go for this option as they seem to gather more dust.

Embrace White Walls

White walls make your room look larger, brighter and it also keeps your room looking and feeling fresh. White rooms are a huge trend and for good reason. There are many opportunities to make the room personalised to you with the additional colours to a room. Having a white room ensures that the lights bounce from every surface. If you prefer to have some decoration or colour, add this through your textures and layers of ornaments, soft furnishing and anything else you want in your bedroom.

There are many ways in which you can make your bedroom brighter, it is all about thinking outside the box.
