If your messaging service on the macOS is not working properly, then you can find the solution here.

The messaging app on Mac gives the user a chance to send messages from the PC to any other Apple products. It is a user-friendly app so that an average user can use it very quickly. Still, it has some issues from time to time. It can be due to many reasons; here we are going to list them and tell you how to resolve those so that you can have an excellent experience.

Internet Connection:

This app requires a stable internet connection to work. The type of internet connection doesn’t matter whether it is wi-fi or Ethernet, it must be active and functioning.

So you have to make sure you are connected, and you can use Ping or any different method to make sure you are connected.

Rebooting Mac

Many times we see that in some devices some temporary glitches are developed due to changes in setting or for long continues to run. Generally, these glitches can be automatically removed by only rebooting the device.

You can get the “Restart” option in Apple Menu and after rebooting the device, try to send it again.

Re-enabling the App (Checking that Apple ID and iCloud is Enable)

To send the message from the app, you should log in to your Apple ID, and it should be running properly. Apart from this, many times while re-enabling (after disabling) the iMessage can help you to resolve this problem. This troubleshooting technique can resolve the glitch regarding the connection of iMessage. You can try this before rebooting step too.

  • Go to Mac’s app “Message.”
  • Slide the app’s Menu.
  • Tap on Preferences.
  • Select the “iMessage” tab.
  • Check the Apple ID (whether it is active or not).
  • Tap on the checkbox of “Enable this Account,” once to disable it and then again to re-enable it.

Logging In the Apple ID again

Due to some temporary glitches, your ID doesn’t work properly. So you should log in to the Apple ID again to resolve the issue. For that, you have to sign out first, for that you have to follow these steps:

  • Reach out to Mac’s app “Message.”
  • Slide the menu bar down.
  • Click on the Preference.
  • Select the tab “iMessage.”
  • You will find the button of Sign Out of the top right section of the screen. Click on it.
  • Exit from the app.
  • Relaunch the app, and reach to the iMessage section and you will find the “Sign In” button. Then sign in your Apple ID.

Check whether Forwarding  of Message is Enabled or Not

To use iMessage service in your Mac, you have to make sure that you have enabled the forwarding option in your iPhone (if you are a user of the iPhone otherwise ignore this). To reach this option you have to Go Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding. Then you should enable it for your Mac book. Then enter the code showing on Mac, in your phone (in displayed Dialogue Box) and click on the “Allow.”

Check the Working of the app in iPad and iPhone

After applying all the above methods, you should check whether your other devices (iPhone and iPad) have the working iMessage app.

If it is not working for those too then, you should resolve the issue of those devices first. There could be two types of problem you can face:

  1. The app is working just fine, but the issue comes in syncing the data.
  2. Every time you get a “Not Sent” error message.
