Through Settings

Those users who have recently upgraded to Windows 10 from previous versions, such as Windows 7/8/8.1, need to consider this method for sure. It is a simple yet effective method, and not that hard to implement as well. Your PC data is destined to be safe, but still, it is best to take the backup of all your essential data. Follow these steps to complete the process:

1. Hit the “Windows” and “I” buttons at the same time and launch Windows Settings.

2. Once it opens, go to the “Update and Security” option.

3. Now, click on the “Recovery” option. You will see the “Go back to the previous version” section on the screen. Click on the highlighted “Get Started” button to move ahead with the process.

4. You will have to go through a lot of options from here. Firstly, you will be asked whether you wish to keep the drivers, files, programs, etc. or not. Make the ideal decision accordingly and keep moving ahead.

5. At last, click the “Go back to earlier build” option. Your PC will restart instantly, after clicking, and the downgrade process will be initiated. Wait for some time until the process is completed.

Through Reset Tool

This tool allows you to switch back to the primary operating system that your PC came with. The days limit is only ten days, though. If you wish to use this method, you must take the backup of your data first as it will wipe all data from your device. Once you reset your PC to the factory default settings with the use of this tool, it will switch to the very first installed operating system on your PC. So, you need to be sure about using this reset too.

It might even move back to the Windows 10 after resetting as a lot of PCs these days ship with pre-installed Windows 10. For instance, if the PC that you bought earlier or recently came with installed Windows 10, then it would go back to the Windows 10 version only. But if the Windows version was different, it would move back to that particular version only. On that note, let’s check out the process given below:

1. Same as above, go to Windows Settings, then Update and Security, and then click the Recovery option.

2. Find the “Get Started” button on your screen now and click on it. It will be there right under the “Reset this PC” section.

3. Now, a mini window will be displayed on the screen. Choose the “Keep my files” option for keeping your files intact. However, you must take the backup as well.

4. From the following screen, click the “Only the drive where Windows is installed” option. It is destined to reset the Drive C or another particular drive where Windows was installed initially.

5. As usual, you will reboot for starting the reset process. Your PC will have the factory-default Windows version very soon.

How to downgrade PC to the previous working build?

If you are facing issues on your Windows 10 PC after an update or it is not booting up, then you need to downgrade Windows 10 to the previous build. Follow the steps given below:

1. Similarly, as before, visit the Windows Settings section on your PC, then click Update and Security, and switch to Recovery tab at last.

2. Hit the “Restart Now” option, which is available right under the “Advanced Startup” section. Soon the PC will start booting to an Advanced Startup screen.

3. If you can’t see the booting process, then try to turn your PC on and off continuously three times. By doing this, you will see the “Automatic Repair” screen and can choose “Advanced Options” from there to visit the Advanced Startup screen.

4. Once you are there on the Advanced Startup screen, click the Troubleshoot option and then “Advanced Options.”

5. In this way, you can find the “Go back to the previous build” option. Click on the same for starting the downgrade process.

Your PC is destined to boot back to the last working build by implementing these steps.

Downgrading Windows 10 however you want

Overall, these were the best ways through which you can downgrade Windows 10 to the earlier OS version or build. All these three methods are ideal for use and will help you for sure. However, the first method is the easiest and ideal for use. If you are facing issues with the current build of Windows 10, then you must follow the third mentioned method.
