How long do tummy tucks take to heal?

by COSMETIC SURGEON health care worker
When considering a Tummy Tuck Surgery, also known as an abdominoplasty, you'll most likely have an idea of the end result in mind from the outset. During your session, communicate your objectives to the board-certified plastic surgeon. The two of you can then debate how to attain them efficiently.

The recovery period for a belly tuck varies depending on the particular patient and factors such as age, general health, tummy tuck type, and amount of post-surgery care. Your surgeon will discuss your individual path to recovery after the treatment, although patients often see improvements and feel fully recovered eight weeks later.

Dynamic Clinic created a helpful timeline that explains the various stages of healing after your Tummy Tuck in Dubai. Contact your surgeon for further information.

Immediately Following Surgery
Your abdomen will be bound with an abdominal binder, which will be replaced with a compression garment later. A mesh strip surgical bandage and small tubes will be put along the incisions to drain any built-up fluid.

Follow your surgeon's recommendations to ensure you're properly prepared for a quick recovery. You will be instructed on how to care for your drain tubes. The secured mesh over the incision will not need to be maintained on a daily basis. You will be given instructions on what forms of physical activity to avoid, how long to wear an abdominal pressure garment, and other details. You won't be able to drive yourself home, so make alternate plans.

Several Days Following Surgery
You'll need to enlist the assistance of others because you'll be unable to move for a few days after the Tummy Tuck Surgery. You'll have difficulties bending, lifting, and standing for lengthy periods of time, so having someone nearby to help you can be beneficial to your recuperation.

For several days, you may have discomfort and tenderness at the site. Most surgeons will advise patients to take antibiotics and anticoagulants. Swelling and discomfort should also be reduced by wearing an abdominal support garment.

Patients should maintain their diets moderate in the days following surgery to avoid stressing their stomach muscles. Lessen inflammation by eating low-sodium foods and increasing fibre intake to reduce strain during bowel motions.

For at least three months following surgery, it is recommended that you refrain from drinking, smoking, and getting too much sun exposure.

One to three weeks following surgery
During your follow-up appointment with your surgeon, he or she will determine when it is appropriate to remove your mesh strip bandage. At this point, you should notice a substantial alteration in the curve of your stomach.

Following the checkup, you must continue to wear your support garment as directed by your surgeon.

You should be able to return to work if you have a sedentary job. However, if the job includes heavy lifting and continual standing or bending, you may be out of work for two to three weeks.

Those who want to get back on the treadmill or elliptical machine will have to wait around three weeks. However,  this is determined on an individual basis, it is common for it to take six weeks before you can resume weight training. When you return to either of these activities, keep an eye on your incision.  Limit your exercise and notify your surgeon if you see any swelling.

One to three months following surgery
Many people will still have swelling in the months following a belly tuck. You may also feel numbness, a pulling sensation, or bruising in your abdomen. The incision should be completely healed, however your leftover scar may still be red and elevated. This will ultimately flatten and fade.

One to two months after surgery, it is normally safe to resume normal activities, including strength training or a physically demanding job. Your surgeon, however, will make the final decision.

One Year Following Surgery
Your Tummy Tuck Surgery should be totally healed and evident one year later. Your irritation should have subsided, and your scar should have vanished. Although it will never be fully gone, it should be practically undetectable and buried beneath your underwear line.

Maintain your results with a nutritious diet and an active lifestyle. Weight gain or loss can alter the appearance of your abdominal area and cause sagging skin. This is one of the reasons why patients should postpone the operation until they have had all of their children. If you keep your weight under control, the effects of an Tummy Tuck performed by a board-certified physician will last a lifetime.
