Tasty delicacies to make this Holi
Gujiya
Easy to prepare and popular delicacy, Gujiya requires easily available ingredients – khoya, sugar, almonds, green cardamom, semolina, and flour. Gujiya is also enjoyed during Diwali and Teej. An easy recipe of Holi snacks below is the description of what goes into the making and the process.
Ingredients:
Flour – 4 cups
Khoya – 200 gm
Powdered green cardamom – 1 tablespoon
Semolina – ¼ cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Chopped almonds – 1 teaspoon
Ghee – 1 ½ cups
Water – ¼ cup
The Making:
· Mix water, flour, and ghee into a bowl to knead a soft dough.
· Once soft enough, keep the dough aside for 60 minutes. Sauté some khoya and semolina in a deep fry pan until it turns golden.
· Next, add sugar, green cardamom and soaked almonds to the cooled khoya and mix. To add some crunch to the Gujiya, you can include some dry roasted nuts and raisins.
· Take two drops of ghee/refined oil and spread it well on your palms and make small round balls from the dough.
· Finally, heat some ghee in a pan at medium flame and fry the gujiyas till they turn golden brown.
Coconut Laddoo
A popular mouth-watering delicacy of the North, this one is easy to make and does not take much time. With milk, ghee and coconut as the prime ingredients, get a hand on these with quick grocery delivery and get on with it.
Ingredients:
Grated coconut – 3 cups
Ghee – 2 teaspoons
Milk – 1 ½ cups
Powdered green cardamom – 1 teaspoon
· Heat ghee, grated coconut and condensed milk and mix well. Once this mixture is well-heated, add some cardamom powder. Mix well and occasionally stir the mixture.
· Once the mixture begins to thicken, stir it regularly until the fat leaves the sides of coconut. Leave the mixture aside for cooling.
· Upon cooling, take small portions of mixture and shape into round balls with your palm.
· Roll these laddoos one-by-one in grated coconut.
· Finally, garnish the laddoos with dry fruits.
