Here are Steps to Fix QuickBooks Error 1712

QuickBooks Error generally persists due to a system files in your PC based device or a damaged OS. The main cause of this is damaged or corrupted files, and changes that have been made to program/software within the same device. How to Resolve QuickBooks Error 1712?


There is more than one way that you may try to resolve this error or issue on your device. They have been mentioned below-

Method 1- Use Selective Startup mode to install QuickBooks and eliminate the error


Step 1: Restart your device and Go to Run. If you don’t know how- press the Windows and R keys together or type Run in the search bar of the Start menu of your desktop.

Step 2: Type msconfig in the Run window and click on the OK button to proceed.

Step 3: Go to the General tab and choose the Selective Startup section. Ensure that the Load System Services option is checked.

Step 4: Click on the option of Services tab and tick the box for Hiding all Microsoft Services located at the bottom. Then, click the “Disable All” button under the Services section on the right.

Step 5: Unchecked the “Hide all Microsoft Services” box.

Step 6: Look for the checkbox for the Windows Installer option in the list of services and make sure that it has been checked.

Step 7: Click on the OK button and then Restart on the device Configuration Window.

Method 2- Trying the QB tool to install your application cleanly


Step 1: Follow Steps 1 to 7 from Method 1.

Step 2: After your device has restarted completely, download this software on your PC- QuickBooks Clean Install Tool.

Step 3: Open this software file and choose the checkbox for “I Accept…” at the bottom, below the license agreement.

Step 4: Click on your version of the QuickBooks software that you want to install and then continue. Choose the option of OK after you get a message saying that a clean install can now be performed.

Step 5: If you are still getting QuickBooks error 1712 then Uninstall QB via the Control Panel by following these steps-

  • Go to the Programs and Features in Control Panel and choose the QB software that you have to uninstall.
  • Click on the option of Uninstall and carry on by following the on-screen instructions.
  • If you are not getting these options, log out from the current individual and try again as an administrative individual for Windows.

Step 6: Reboot your device and again install your QB software again by following step 4. This time, do it as an admin user of your Windows PC.
