Has The New Age Of Poker Begun?

by Spartan Poker Play Poker Online Games in India
When someone a couple of decades ago said they were a poker player, you would picture them with formal glasses, sitting across a table with similarly serious looking players, with their poker faces on, and a lot of chips on the table. There will be an occasional grunt and an occasional sigh, and once in a while some sweaty faces and trembling hands that give away the mood of the player. If you have a vivid imagination, you might also see a few fights over who was cheating, but well, the truth is, that fights are only for the movies.

Today, however, poker is a different story altogether. While there still are offline poker rooms that have an air of superiority around them, poker is now available and accessible to anyone who wants to try their hand. As you would play rummy online, you can now also play a good game of poker online. There are several platforms where you can choose to play the game with a variety of stakes such as small stakes, moderate stakes and even large stake games where you could win big in a game of online poker.

So, how does online poker work?

If you’re used to playing card games online or on your mobile phone, and play rummy online, you will know how a typical online poker table would look. These online poker websites take deposits through online payments and pass the amounts into their poker credit accounts. Most poker sites also offer freeroll poker tournaments where the player does not have to make any initial investment to take part in the first few games.

In freeroll poker tournaments  they are allotted a uniform number of digital chips to begin their game with, and towards the end they the winners stand to gain a real money cash prize. Players can use the funds from their accounts to take part in any game the poker site has to offer - across the many tables whether it is poker tournaments, freeroll poker tournaments, cash games, sit-and-gos or demo games without any stakes that are used by players to get a hang of the game.

How is online poker different?

The main thing about online poker is that you won’t have access to the facial expressions or emotions of your opponents during the game. As most of the poker players are playing from the comforts of their homes across the world - that’s a benefit as well as disadvantage that you will need to overcome while transitioning from an offline poker room game to an online setup.

The second difference would be that in poker games, most seasoned players visit for the love of the game alone. Don’t get us wrong, online players love the game too - but most of them are in it for the money. There is no major socialising that happens (except in the chat rooms that people use to exchange ideas, skills and strategies) - in comparison to poker rooms offline which are all about the social status, interactions, engagement with like-minded people with the same level of enthusiasm for learning and mastering the game.

Further, online poker games, as a result of their platform tend to be faster - with a lot of pressure on players to move along quickly. In offline games players take their time to analyse each others’ moves, emotions and possible tells to understand how the game might move. Online, it is purely about skill and calculations. Players are more likely to bully newcomers into making quick decisions (often wrong ones) than in a real-life poker game across a table, where that might be seen as unethical and called out immediately.

With these new changes and players adapting to them, across the world it is fair to say that we are entering a new era in the life of this truly historic card-game of poker. This is a new age, and things are changing in big ways.

What we can do is be ahead of the curve, and make some big winnings in the process. We wish you the best for your next online poker game!
