Growing demand from Tarneit and Vale, Wyndham opens new kindergartens

by Theindian Sun Indian Magazine in Australia

The doors of two new kindergartens in Wyndham will soon open to the public, helping to meet growing demand in the Tarneit and Wyndham Vale areas.

Wyndham City’s Family Friendly City portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said the kindergartens would be operational from Term 2 in April 2018.

“The Tarneit North and Wyndham Vale Primary School Kindergartens will be great additions to the Wyndham community and will help to service our constantly growing community,” Cr Shaw said.

Both kindergartens will be operated in partnership with best chance Child Family Care Inc. An experienced early childhood service provider, best chance currently supports over 60 kindergartens across 11 local government areas, including Truganina East Kindergarten in Wyndham.

“This is great news for Wyndham families and will help support our youngest residents as they start their schooling life,” said Cr Shaw.

Wyndham City’s Learning City portfolio holder, Cr Josh Gilligan, said even more investment for education in Wyndham was needed.

“While this is a great start, it is just the beginning of what we need in our City. Our analysis has shown that we will need 25 new kindergartens, 20 primary schools and six secondary schools by 2036,” Cr Gilligan said.

“In the lead up to the 2018/19 Victorian Budget, we’re calling on the State Government to fund the early planning and land acquisition for seven new primary schools, one specialist school, and two secondary schools. We’ve also called for the construction of a senior secondary college, two primary schools and five early years or family learning centers,” he added.

Wyndham is experiencing one of the fastest growing populations in Australia. The population recently surpassed 250,000 people, outgrowing Greater Geelong for the first time. Almost 90 babies are born in Wyndham every week and over the next 18 years, our population will increase by a further 74%.

“We need all levels of government to work together to help us ensure that future generations receive the best education possible, regardless of where they come from,” said Cr Gilligan.

Applications for the Tarneit North and Wyndham Vale Primary School Kindergartens are open now. 2019 four-year-old Kindergarten enrolments will open on 3 April 2018 for all Wyndham kindergartens.
