by Mitun Mukherjee Milkio food product

Ghee has become the modern superfood for every health-conscious person. In fact, the global demand for ghee has fueled the production of different ghee manufacturing companies selling a wide variety of ghee. If you are new to ghee and wondering how to store ghee, this post is just for you. Homemade ghee should be consumed within three months, or you should store it in the refrigerator for a longer shelf-life. Now coming, how long will store-bought ghee last?

The shelf life of ghee also depends on the product quality. If you purchase a top-quality grass-fed organic ghee, then it will last 10-12 months from the date of manufacturing. Ghee can go bad before its ‘use-by date if not stored properly. Here are some effective tips to keep ghee fresh for longer -

Dry Vessel: The first and most important tip is to make sure that the ghee-storing container doesn’t have any moisture or it can spoil the ghee.

Dark & dry area: If you just got the ghee from the market, keep the jar in the dark and cool cabinet that gets no direct sunlight. The discussion for ‘how to store ghee’ doesn’t end here.

Small-big container: If you prefer purchasing large quantities of ghee for regular use, separate it into two parts. Pour the desired amount of ghee into a small jar for regular use and store the rest in the refrigerator.
