Today, banks are foreclosing on properties at a faster pace, with some as fast as one year. In addition to this, there is a backlog of foreclosure in the pipeline, with some cases dating back to 2008 and 2009, which should be going to sherrif sale within the next year or two.

With this in mind, the report indicates that there could be an influx of short sales and REOs in the market, as banks start to speed up the foreclosure process. This represents an untapped market for real estate agents or investors looking to find a bargain.
