France Silica Sand Market Overview 2018, Share, Trends and Forecast to 2023

Silica sand is mainly composed of silicon dioxide or silica along with general impurities like lime and metal oxides. It occurs in both the crystalline state and amorphous form as a result of plankton fossilization or weathering. Silica sand possesses non-reactive properties and high silica content which make it an indispensable material to be used in the manufacturing of construction materials, electronics, glass, renewable materials, etc. France is considered to be one of the largest ceramic industries in Europe which is mainly driven by the increasing manufacturing of sanitaryware, brick and roof tile, and tableware. This has majorly contributed in boosting the demand for silica sand market in the region.

In the year 2014, the performance of the French construction sector deteriorated due to municipal elections, failure of Duflot tax exemptions program along with a decrease in housing permits and renovation projects. In order to boost the depressed housing market in the region, the government introduced the Simplification of the Regulation policy in the same year.
