The aforesaid treatment helps infertile couples to conceive a baby by joining the egg with sperm in a culture dish. In the laboratory, embryos are created and later placed into the female’s uterus. However, most of the people have heard about IVF treatment but not aware of the detailed process of IVF. In order to develop a better understanding of the IVF procedure, it is divided into four steps. It initiates with ovulation induction and passes through egg retrieval, fertilization and ends with embryo transfer. If you wish to learn more about test tube baby procedure then check out the four primary steps that you will need to pass during the process.
Ovulation induction: When the IVF process starts, your fertility specialist will monitor your ovaries and analyze the time of releasing an egg. It is the most important step because it will depict the actual position of your ovaries. The doctor will make sure whether the ovaries are releasing eggs or not. Additionally, the doctor will also check your hormonal level with a certain test. In order to stimulate ovaries, fertility drugs will be given. This will help your ovaries to release a good amount of eggs because the availability of eggs will enhance the chances of pregnancy. In some cases, women are not able to produce eggs in that condition the doctor may suggest donor eggs for IVF process.
Egg retrieval: As we move forward, the process continues by giving pain medication. This helps in reducing pain or any discomfort during egg retrieval. In this step, a thin needle is passed through the vaginal wall. With vaginal ultrasound, the fluid is extracted from the follicles and the eggs are isolated from it. Later on, the eggs are placed in a container having nutrient media and placed in an incubator.
Fertilization: This is the next step of the IVF process where fertilization takes place. The fertility specialist will take the sample of sperm either from a partner or donor. The doctor will take the most active sperm to get it fertilized with egg in a special chamber. At times, the sperms are directly injected into the female’s egg. Further, the egg and sperm are transferred to the incubator and the doctor examines the development of the healthy embryo.
Transferring the embryo:  In this last step of the infertility treatment process, the embryos are transferred to the female’s womb. The doctor inserts the catheter into the vagina and then embryos are placed. This step is very simple as compared to standard egg collection. The transfers of embryos are dependent on age.

The IVF process is very simple and helps many patients who have been struggling with various fertility issues. The ultimate advantage of this treatment is to achieve a successful pregnancy and have a healthy baby. In vitro fertilization has made it possible to conceive a child for the people who would be unable to have. A couple may undergo IVF treatment in a different condition like blocked fallopian tubes, a patient with low ovarian reserve, male infertility, female suffering with PCOD/PCOS. Addition to this, IVF is not only fruitful for female infertility but it can also be suggested in the case of male infertility. Couples having male infertility will have higher chances of conceiving with In vitro fertilization than natural one. With the help of technology like ICSI (intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection) the chances of getting pregnant are increased. This process has helped millions of couples worldwide after beating various infertility causes. So don’t sit at home worrying and make a move towards this treatment.
