Finding the Right Plumber

by Kevin Smith Author

Finding a great plumber in Gainesville, GA doesn't have to be a difficult process. As long as you know what questions to ask and do a little bit of research beforehand, you should be able to find the right plumbing services company for your needs.

Ask Around

Checking reviews and asking for recommendations are both great options. You likely have friends, neighbors, or relatives who have already needed plumbing working in the area. Speak with them and learn about their experiences. They may be able to point you in the right direction. If they have horror stories to tell, at least they can inform you about companies to avoid. Knowing businesses to cross off your list is also helpful.

Online reviews aren't always incredibly informative, but they're generally useful as well. Angie's List and other websites post customer reviews, which gives you some insight into what other people have learned from working with local companies firsthand. At a minimum, you shouldn't have trouble narrowing down your search to a handful of choices. Initially, you really just need a way to get started.

Confirm Credentials

Every plumbing company you work with should be licensed, bonded, and insured. This is relatively easy to verify since they shouldn't have any difficulty furnishing you with the appropriate paperwork. If they give you the run around when you ask for verification, you should simply move on to another business. In fact, any questionable behavior should serve as a red flag. While you're looking into their credentials, you may even learn about awards or accolades they've earned over the years. Most companies are happy to brag about any awards of special recognition they've earned.

Get an Estimate

Once you feel comfortable with a business, you can schedule a visit and get an estimate. This is a great way to get your own firsthand experience with their personnel. Speak with their plumber and get a feel for how comfortable you are with them. Are they professional and courteous? Did they make a proper introduction and dress appropriately? If they make you uncomfortable or seem discourteous, you are under no obligation to hire them.

Emergency Response

If hired them and had an excellent experience, you may want to keep their card on hand. Not every plumber in Gainesville, GA, offers 24/7 service and response. It's good to have that information available if you do happen to require emergency plumbing services in the future.
