by Joie Gahum Digital Marketer

Stress is an evitable factor in any working environment. This is also present even in home-based settings and to date, more than half of all marketing professional out there believe that stress is indeed present in their work. In the marketing world, stress is even more tremendous with employees stuck in heavier workloads and longer working hours. Balancing between their professional and professional life becomes even more difficult for those who work in marketing in a home-based setting.

A strong and productive workforce is what makes a good business. However, stress is something present in any working atmosphere, no matter how productive and strong a working force may be. There are several reasons why stress is experienced at work. This is why it is important for marketing organizations to address and identify the causes of such stress to be able to create a healthy work-life balance for its employees.

Knowing the effects of stress

Knowing the effects of stress allows you to identify its presence in the workforce. When workers are starting to be less productive and fails to meet what is expected from them, stress may be present. Knowing these effects allows you to discover the root cause of stress. Happier working environments promotes happier employees. When an employee is happy, they perform better at work.

Say for example, changing your internet service to NBN plans from Compare Broadband may bring a more positive atmosphere in your workforce since they can access and do their online tasks faster. Downgrading to a mediocre internet service on the other hand can be stressful for those whose jobs are dependent on the internet.

Effective stress management techniques

Heavy workloads, month-end deadlines and other recurring tasks may bring constant stress to your workforce. Bad management can also be one of the factors that makes a working environment stressful. As a manager or leader, it is your duty to ensure that communication lines are open between you, the management and your team when it comes to factors affecting their productivity, in this case, stress. Delegate with balance in mind and give your employees a much deserve break when needed. Offer help to a struggling employee by providing insights, trainings and additional help if deemed necessary. An employee who feels supported will tend to be more open about the problems they are currently facing at work.

Encourage staff to find time off away from the internet

In this generation, disconnecting from the internet is quite hard to do, especially if most of these marketing people have access to their work emails even in their personal PC’s and smartphones. This is also the reason why marketers tend to extend their work hours. Being constantly connected online deprives them from keeping their mind out of work during time offs. As an employer, encouraging your staff to find time for themselves, especially during weekends and evenings. This in return will make their employees feel refreshed and would end up more productive as soon as the new work week sprint begins.

Knowing what activities promotes stress in a workplace helps employees address the problem accordingly. Eliminating stress and creating a happier environment for employees increases loyalty, productivity and makes working as a marketer even more enjoyable.
