Door-related finger accidents – dangers and prevention

by Safety Assured Find Best Door Safety Products

Finger injuries that occur because of closing doors can be potentially tragic. Hundreds of thousands of children are treated at emergency medical centres every year because of door-related finger injuries and cases of fractures and partial or complete finger amputation by doors are not unheard of either.

Door-related finger accidents are terrifying, to say the least. So, what can be done to prevent them?

First of all, severe door-related injuries take place only on the hinge side of the door as there is an extraordinary amount of force involved on the hinge side when a door is closed (40 tons of pressure psi, to be precise!)

Fortunately, these accidents can be avoided with the help of door finger guards for schools, day care centres, or homes. Door finger guards are safety products that cover the cavity between the door and the door frame. These guards are made of flexible materials so they can take any position (opened, closed, or anywhere in between) – allowing the door to be left in any position without the need for an anti-door slam device. It also means that these guards can be easily set up without screws (or very strong adhesive), and as a result will not take any skill or much time to install.

Resorting to a door finger protector will considerably minimize or eliminate a severe risk of finger trap injury. Door safety products are not expensive and are the perfect solution to prevent excruciating and permanent injuries.
