Doctor's Recommendation for Acne Scar Removal in Singapore

by Andy Cheng Director

Why do acne scars form?

Acne scars are very often the result of an inflamed lesion, papule, pustule, or cyst. Inflammation of the skin occurs because the follicles become engorged with dirt and excess oil.

In order to repair your skin, the skin forms new collagen fibres to replace the lost tissue due to the inflammation. In an ideal situation, the newly formed collagen should form such that it matches the surrounding skin.

However, this rarely happens. The newly formed collagen produced is often less than the surrounding skin. This leads to formation of a depressed scar. When extra collagen is formed, a raised scar is formed, usually known as a keloid.

For depressed scars, there are 3 types of scars that you might encounter, depending on the situation.

First, you have the ice pick scars. These are deep, however not that large. That means you still need good acne scar removal options in order to eliminate them. And it might work very well, all you need is to adapt and adjust all of this to suit your needs the right way.

Then you have the boxcar scars that have sharp edges and angles. These can be deep or shallow, it depends on the situation. Lastly, you have rolling acne scars, which tend to be very shallow and wide. They will appear in case there’s damage under the surface, and that’s what you will have to target and focus on to begin with.

Effective medical treatments

Even if you must deal with acne scars, there’s no need to worry about this. You can still find a good acne scar treatment that suits your needs. In fact, there are 4 major treatments you can use. Each one of them brings in front its fair share of benefits, as you will see below.

The CO2 laser option is very good too. In this case, micro ablative columns are created to ensure that the skin and collagen grow adequately. The interesting thing is that this treatment is dealing with fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps treat the stretch marks, not to mention you can eliminate saggy skin naturally and with great success.

The minimally invasive radio frequency is great because it administers the radiofrequency energy into the skin in order to boost the collagen production naturally.
