Dinners you can cook for your Valentine

by Atul Singh Food Blogger

It is often quoted that the way to someone’s heart is through his or her stomach, and quite rightly so. When one thinks about it, food goes much beyond its intended purpose of providing us with nutrition. It has, over the years, evolved as an art form, as a culinary experience, and as a gastronomic pleasure that spans cultures, religions, boundaries, and other great divides of the world.

It is amidst this that even something as basic as food preparation has become a passion for many. Not only is it a great experience for the one putting in all the effort to churn out a delectable recipe in the kitchen, but also a similar occurrence for the lucky one for whom it is being prepared. There is something effortlessly romantic when your significant other prepares, for example, yummy pasta served with buttery whole bread, and the feeling of love and joy shared over dining together is mutual. Hence, why not treat your beloved, your very own Valentine this time around with a special birthday dinner?

Instead of doing the same old dining out valentine routine, surprise him or her with the following scrumptious dinners and make it birthday worth remembering:

1.      The quintessential finger-licking Indian dinner:

One can’t quite beat the Punjabi cuisine when it comes to dinner. If your partner loves non-vegetarian, then go for the evergreen and world famous butter chicken, served with rice and hot parathas. Don’t forget to garnish religiously as that will really make your meal create an aroma of irresistibility. If your partner loves veggies, then try your hand at a cottage cheese dish such as shahi paneer, or the amazing dal makhani. For dessert, there is always gajar ka halwa or fruity bread used to make shahi tukda!

2.       The Italian meal that never gets old:

Everyone loves the good old Italian cuisine which has become a truly global cuisine with its offerings of pizza and pasta. So, why not surprise your partner with something delectable and truly Italian such as his or her favourite pasta, whether fusilli, spaghetti, or penne, cooked with the choicest of toppings. Throw in some hot tomato pepper soup along with crispy garlic bread sticks, and you have the perfect dinner. Don’t forget to savour red wine along with the meal!

3.       The fiery East Asian delicacies:

East Asian is another cuisine which is quite popular the world over, and is truly cherished in India. How about some chilli sesame chicken with rice and garlic noodles? It is one lethal combination of tender chicken, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and green onions. You can also go for Manchurian and fried rice, if that’s what your partner enjoys!

The Spanish kitchen experiment:

How about trying something new and surprising for the birthday dinner? Spanish cuisine is not as common as it should be in this part of the world, but it is definitely worth trying. If your partner loves seafood, then you can try cooking the simple paella with lobster or shrimps, served with Spanish rice laden with spices and herbs. For appetizers, we recommend trying tapas, and gulping down food with excellent red wine!y
