Cultivating A Healthy Mind

by HealthyMD - CME Medical Education & Doctor Wellness
Maintaining a healthy mind is just like how you’d keep your body healthy. You need to make an effort to make time for yourself, like taking time off work to sit in solitude or to reconnect with your creativity. As a physician, it’s hard not to make sacrifices for others, especially if they’re your patients.

Balancing Mental Health and Work

A medical career is a sacrifice from the start, and it's important that you’re taking energy from a reliable source. That source is only cultivated and harvested by you. That source is your mind.

Scheduling regular routines to develop your mental health, just like you would when you go to work, is crucial in cultivating an infinite source of positive energy in your mind. Choosing a medical cruise ship trip over a traditional conference, for instance, can help you ease the tension when going on a work or educational venture. Aside from it being a learning opportunity, you get to reflect, relax and meditate and help yourself recharge from the daily stresses of a medical career.

Stress and Disease vs. Peace and Healing

Whether you like it or not, mental stress and disease are correlated. Each has the possibility to develop because of the other. We’ve seen doctors in the past who die earlier than their patients because of stress. This was according to a study made by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

Additionally, they added that the average doctors who died of stress met death at ages 45-55 and 55-65. Peace and healing, on the other hand, are acquired by doctors that train themselves to be mindful and caring to themselves.

Healing the World Through Personal Alignment

When you obtain clarity of the mind and personal peace from your efforts to care for yourself, you influence and inspire others to do the same. You become more empathetic as a doctor. Your patients will most probably be convinced to revamp themselves. When you heal yourself, you heal others. When you are aligned with your intentions, you know what to prioritize.

Having a good relationship with yourself is important no matter your profession or lifestyle. It gives you a clear perception of your true purpose in life that can be defined beyond any degree or physical attainment in life.

Healthy MD CME, an alternative CME conference cruise, gives physicians the chance to rejuvenate, regain clarity and revamp their mental and physical health -- all while learning and earning CME credits.
