How to choose a water purifier.

The reverse osmosis purifier is a water purifier whose diffusion within   homes has increased exponentially in recent years. Although it has been abundantly demonstrated that this type of purifier is able to effectively eliminate the excess mineral salts and the various pollutants often present in the water of our taps, there are still many skeptics who prefer to continue to buy bottled water, contributing thus increasing pollution and waste.

To avoid any doubt, let's see how reverse osmosis water purifiers work and why they are really useful.

Let's start from some basic notion of physics: osmosis.

Osmosis is a completely natural process that is observed in the presence of two liquids with a concentration of different dissolved substances, separated by a semi-permeable membrane. Since the membrane allows the liquid to pass through but not the dissolved substances in it, in a short time it will be possible to observe that the liquid will pass from the zone with a lower concentration to that with a higher concentration, creating a difference in level. The process will be complete when the solute concentration will be the same in both liquids separated by the membrane. The difference in height between the two sides of the membrane exerts a certain pressure, called osmotic pressure.

What is reverse osmosis?

Osmosis is a process that occurs continuously within all living organisms and does not require any kind of energy. Reverse osmosis, as easily understood, is the opposite process. In reverse osmosis, in fact, a pressure higher than the osmotic pressure is applied, such as to force the liquid to move where there is a lower concentration of solute.

This mechanism, when applied to drinking water, allows therefore to pass through the membrane only the water with the lowest concentration of potential harmful substances such as chlorine, nitrates, arsenic, pesticides or heavy metals. Reverse osmosis is such an effective process that it is even used to make seawater drinkable.

Our reverse osmosis purifiers for domestic use are able to retain on average up to 97% of harmful substances and possible pollutants present in the water, including bacteria, sediments, rust, chlorine, lead and pesticides. From your tap will come clean water, with an excellent flavor and mineral content, perfect not only to be drunk by the whole family, but also excellent for cooking and for tea and herbal teas, as well as for washing fruit and vegetables. By installing a reverse osmosis purifier, you can then say goodbye forever to expensive, heavy and polluting plastic bottles.

The Osmo Acqua series reverse osmosis water purifiers are easy to install and take up very little space under the kitchen sink. They are available in three different versions:

OSMO ACQUA DR with in-line deacidifying and re-mineralizing cartridge post-filter.

OSMO ACQUA UV with UV -ray sterilizer with bactericidal action.

OSMO WATER LG with integrated carbonator for the extra supply of lightly carbonated water at room temperature.
