Chiropractor or Massage Therapist—Which do you Need?

by Mohit J. White Hat Link Building Services

Are you not sure if you need a chiropractor in Brick or a massage?  If so, you are not the only one.  Both can be used as a preventive measure to avoid the discomforts and pain that come from everyday life.  It is advisable to visit a chiropractor first and finish with a massage.  This is especially true if you have had an injury so they can tell you if it is safe to have a massage after treatment.

Massage therapy would be the one to choose if your primary issue is muscle stiffness or pain and just want to simply relax.  A massage therapist would be able to help increase the circulation to the areas affected.  If you have joint pain, a pinched sciatic nerve, or spinal disc issues, then you should consider seeing a chiropractor.  They will be able to identify what is causing your pain, whether it is skeletal or muscular, and what is the best course of treatment.

Some think going to a chiropractor and receiving chiropractic care and massage in Brick therapy are one and the same, but they are not.  They do share some similarities but are different types of treatment.  Both are effective at improving the healing process and preventing some conditions along with providing pain relief.

Differences

Both do have their roots in ancient Chinese culture and are considered holistic care.  They help to increase the body’s ability to heal itself without surgery or medication along with promoting health, but they are very different also.

When you see a chiropractor in Brick, the chiropractic care you receive is called neuroskeletal care.  They use spinal manipulation.  The chiropractor will manually apply pressure or force to adjust bones, your spine, and joints into the proper alignment.  With a massage in Brick, the therapist will only treat muscular conditions.  They are experienced in helping relieve stiffness, tension, and muscle pain through hands-on treatment.  They will focus on the soft tissues and muscles using several types of massage.  Often a massage will involve using different lotions and oils.

A massage therapist provides temporary relief.  They are treating the symptoms but not the reason a person is having these symptoms.  With a chiropractor, they do not just focus on the areas where you have the pain just to give you temporary relief.  They also focus on why you are having the pain and trying to fix the problem.

Conclusion

They have found that in some cases it is best if you combine the two.  Visit your chiropractor for chiropractic care and end the session with massage therapy.  Today, some chiropractic offices have a massage therapist working for their practice so you can get both.  Having a massage after chiropractic treatment can help maintain the alignment for a long period of time and allow your body to respond more to the adjustments made by the chiropractor.  Together, they can help to enhance emotional well-being.  If your chiropractor offers massage therapy, then take advantage of both.
