Check dates for upcoming 10-hour mentor coaching classes to earn or renew your ACC credential

by Powerhouse Coaching ICF certified mentor coach

To apply for an ACC (Associate Certified Coach) credential from the International Coach Federation (ICF), you need to receive mentor coaching for a minimum of 10 hours from a qualified mentor coach who holds an ICF credential of at least a PCC or MCC. The purpose is to provide feedback in a collaborative and positive way to help support your coaching skills in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.

Mentor coaching for the ACC focuses on developing coaching skills and not on the exploration of challenges of the coaching professional practice, such as achieving work-life balance. It involves observance of coaching sessions and providing feedback on ICF Core Competencies that are present or missing. You will be able to develop a thorough understanding of what is expected at the applied ICF credentialing level and would be able to develop your coaching confidence accordingly.

10 hours of mentor coaching for ACC often may include 7 hours of group coaching, though these can be done one-on-one. Your mentor coach will provide feedback against the ICF Core Competencies as well as shared tips to improve your coaching skills. The remaining three hours will be one-on-one with your mentor coach.

Balancing theory and practice

The co-creative process of mentor coaching for ACC allows for open and direct communication about your coaching goals and the balance of theory and practice, as well as areas for growth. The coach will focus on progress, not perfection, as well-as building self-trust.

In a mentoring process, you get space to gain confidence and establish new skills with your mentor coach, who is focused on your success. It provides professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the level of coaching competency and capability demanded by the ACC credential level. During mentor coaching for ACC, you will gain a more thorough understanding of the ICF Core Competencies and how to utilize them in your coaching. You will also be able to identify your unique strengths and talents as a coach.
