Gain confidence as a coach as you earn your certification
by Powerhouse Coaching ICF certified mentor coachMentor coaching is a mandatory part of your coach
certification journey. Whether you are renewing your International Coach
Federation (ICF) credential or seeking accreditation for the first time,
certified group mentor coaching will help build your coaching capability around
the ICF Core Competencies.
The ICF requires coaches on their credentialing path to
complete 10 hours of mentor coaching out of which 7 hours should be certified
group mentor coaching and 3 hours one-on-one or individual mentor coaching. The
group being mentored may not consist of more than 10 participants. Certified
group mentor coaching should take place over a minimum of three months in a
cycle that allows for listening, feedback, reflection and practice by the
Mentor Coach.
Get to know what ICF
assessors evaluate in coaches
Certified group mentor coaching sessions are organized so
that one or two of the ICF Core Competencies are focused upon in each call. All
participants will have the opportunity to be a coach and be coached across the
full series of calls. You will be apprised of what assessors evaluate in
relation to each competency, and the minimum level of skill competency required
for the coaching credential. You will also be told about non-coaching behaviors
that might prevent the successful completion of your ICF performance evaluation
process. You will be encouraged to strive to meet the markers for your level of
coaching certification while honoring your particular coaching style.
Gain clarity on skill
use
Familiarity with the code of ethics and its application is
required for all levels of coaching for demonstrating a strong ethical
understanding of coaching. The ICF strongly believes that clients receive real
and substantive value from Mentor Coaches. This value rests in the Mentor
Coach’s complete attention to the client and support to their agenda.
Additionally, the ICF notes that if an applicant is not clear on basic
foundation exploration and evoking skills, and lacks the clarity of skill use,
they may not be able to achieve a passing score for the credentialing exam and
credential at any level would be denied.
