Cheap International Student Flights Made Easy

by Jack Smith Digital Marketer

If not for student discounts, I’m not sure I would have stayed in college. Cheap international student flights, especially multi-stop tickets or around the world, can be an incredible way for a young person to get to know the world. In addition to flights, there are many discounts on concerts, sporting events, movies, and restaurants. I would like to show you some ways to get really cheap student travel discounts.

But without even thinking about flight search, turn on your laptop and ask for an International Student Identity Card (ISIC). They cost less than fifty dollars and you can easily save ten times as much. As a personal example, I managed to get the best places at Les Miserables in London for less than twenty dollars. This is not a spelling mistake. I have visited many museums in Europe and Australia for less than half the price of a common entrance. Give it to young people: The ISIC card is only valid for up to twenty-six.

Okay, you have an ISIC card. Now let’s talk about cheap flights. It is important to consider how long you have to travel. In general, the longer you stay away, the lower your daily expenses. My advice is to extend your journey into the world and take a break around the world. You’d be surprised how cheap it can be, especially with student discounts. Try focusing on one region, such as Southeast Asia or South America, or, if you have a little more time and money, buy the holy grail of cheap international travel: a ticket around the world.

If you’re interested in tickets around the world, there are two places to help you decide what’s best for you. Airtreks.com specializes in flights around the world, so you can often fly to ten different destinations for less than three thousand dollars. Again, this is not a spelling mistake. The second agency to turn to is STA travel: through them for fifteen hundred dollars (roughly the cost of a round-trip ticket from San Francisco to Sydney would still have cost).

Once you have a general idea of the route you want to travel on, consult one of their travel specialists to resolve the logistics. The travel agent should help you plan visas (if you need them) and make recommendations on how to further increase your budget.
