Canada Permanent Residency becomes easier for Indians!

by Sneha Chawla Best Immigration Consultants

When it comes to Canadian permanent residency, Indians are in the leading position – accounting for almost 1/3rd of landings in 2021.

With Canada’s new and improved “Immigration Level Plans” targeted at supporting the recovery from the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic – the chances of meeting the eligibility for Canada PR have become easier. Canada is planning to open doors to more than 1.3 million new permanent residents between 2022 and 2024. Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced these record-breaking targets through the “Canada Immigration Level Plan for 2022-24”.

Here are some of the easiest ways to immigrate to Canada from India as a permanent resident.

  1. Express Entry

This is by far, the most popular pathway to gaining Canadian permanent residency. The process to apply for Express Entry Canada is online and manages Canada PR applications for three key economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

When you apply for Express Entry Canada, your profile will be evaluated and ranked, based on factors such as Age, Education, Work Experience, Language Proficiency, Spousal Sponsorship, and Adaptability.

Candidates meeting the eligibility for Canada PR, and are placed in the Express Entry pool – alongside other qualifying candidates. Candidates with the highest scores are issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in a subsequent draw, usually held every two weeks.

The process to apply for Express Entry Canada takes anywhere between 6 and 8 months – and is the fastest way to immigrate to Canada as a permanent resident.

  1. Provincial Nominee Programs

Besides Express Entry, Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs are the most popular amongst Indians. Canada has 10 provinces – each with its own eligibility criteria, process, and prerequisites. Like the Express Entry system, Canada’s PNP also runs on a point-based system. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) have a lower CRS requirement than the Express Entry program.

After qualifying, you will be issued a provincial nomination – eventually meeting the eligibility for Canada PR. Some of the popular Canadian PNPs include Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP), British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP), and Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

The processing time to apply under a Canadian PNP is longer than that to apply for Express Entry Canada i.e., 18 – 36 months.

  1. Family Sponsorship Programs

The Canadian government offers one of the best “Family Reunification” programs in the world. If you have a family member or blood relative living in Canada as a permanent resident or citizen – you may meet the eligibility for Canada PR.

Family Class Sponsorship includes Spouse Visa (spouse/common-law partner), Dependent Visa (children), and Super Visa (Parents and Grandparents).

Most Family Class Sponsorship applications are processed within 22 and 24 months.

  1. Business Immigration

If you want to invest in a Canadian business or want to start a new business in Canada – you may be eligible to immigrate to Canada from India as a permanent resident. Business immigration in Canada was created to boost investment and employment in the country by allowing immigrants to move to Canada to start or invest in a business.

Popular Business Immigration to Canada PR pathways include Investor Visa, Start-up Visa, Entrepreneur Visa, and Self-employed Visa.

Canada PR applications under any of the Business Immigration programs are processed within 25 and 30 months.
