Can vitamin D deficiency be cured naturally?

by Kudrati Ayurved Parkinson Treatment in India

The modern world sees people indoors more often than outdoors. Even in a tropical country like India the incidence of low vitamin D levels is common, especially in urban areas. The work pattern and advent of the internet has caused the urban population to spend more time glued to screens rather than spending time in physical activity.

Vitamin D deficiency is more common in vegetarians, elderly, people with kidney related and liver issues, obese and sick people. The low levels of Vitamin D maycause bone and body pain. Studies show that vitamin D deficiency may have connections with diseases like Diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune diseases like Multiple Sclerosis and even cancer. Research is being carried out about this connection.

A simple blood test can ascertain if you are deficient in the vitamin and you can add supplements to your diet to augment the vitamin. Some natural foods that contain Vitamin D are fatty fish, beef liver, mushrooms, cheese and egg yolks. Fortified milk, breakfast cereals, soya, juices and dairy products can also be good sources of the Vitamin.

Exposure to the sun is also very important for the body to convert the precursor to usable vitamin D in the body. Too many synthetic supplements can also cause toxicity in the human body. The toxic levels affect the kidney, cause excessive weight loss and hypercalcemia. This problem can be bypassed by adding natural supplements to the food.

These natural supplements are age old in the Ayurveda system of treatment and are highly unlikely to cause toxicity. These natural supplements are well absorbed by the body and give instant relief. It is important that you check blood levels at regular intervals to check your levels. Persistent low levels of vitamin D deficiency may indicate an underlying disease and must be investigated thoroughly.
