Business Plan of PT. SMI As Indonesian Public Private Partnership

Public private partnership is the partnership which is done by government company with one or more private companies, in order to achieve some specific goals or projects which have been agreed by the two parties. Public private partnership can be the government company or the private companies which are financed and operated by the partnership or the agreement between government and private companies.

            There are some some public private partnerships in Indonesia. PT. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) is one of them. PT. SMI is a company which works in the field of infrastructure financing. This company was established on February, 26^th 2009 as a SOE or an enterprise that is owned by a state. Its shares are 100% owned by Indonesian Government which is through the Indonesia Finance Ministry.

            PT. SMI has several roles of infrastructure financing such as facilitating infrastructure financing, preparing projects, and also serving advices for projects of infrastructure in Indonesia. This company also has the duty to support the development of Government’s infrastructure plan for Indonesia. To manage and run the duties, PT. SMI has a role as a catalyst and/or facilitator between the owner of the projects and the financier or investor. The duty is done through affiliations with private as well as institutions of multilateral financial in projects of Private Public Partnership (PPP).

Business Plan of PT. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero)

PT. SMI has strategic business plans in order to ensure continuous contribution for the development of infrastructure in Indonesia. Here are the business plans of PT. SMI:

1.     Long Term Business Plan 2009-2013

This first stage of its development of business to Build A Strong Corporate Foundation has completed successfully by PT. SMI. The following focuses are developing the business process of the company, exercising capacity which is intensive programs of development, building trust of market through well assorted portfolio of financing, and also promoting risk of corporate culture.

2.     Long Term Business Plan 2014-2018

This is the second stage of “Developing the Company’s Business Through Multi-services In Infrastructure Sector.” PT. SMI reaffirms its vision, mission, quantitative targets, corporate values, and also five corporate development focus. Those play role as the basis in the development of working programs of PT. SMI for the next five years. The five corporate development focus of PT. SMI are strengthening the Three Business Plans of the company, leveraging strategy, development of product library, enhancements of business process, and also PPP showcase projects.

3.     Business Plan 2019

PT. SMI plans to launch advices services which play role as the Third Business Pillar of the company. This completes the existing business of the company in financing and also preparation of the projects. It also allows PT. SMI to provide solutions which are more complete and flexible in the market. PT. SMI has received the rating of National Long Term of AA(idn) with Stable Outlook which is from Fitch Ratings. This can be a proof of confidence of the market to PT. SMI. It can also be prospects of infrastructure sector in Indonesia.
