Lake Trichonida- Karpenissi

The lake with the endless blue is located near Agrinio and is surrounded by the mountains of Panetolio and Arakinthos. The area of the lake has been a place of natural beauty and of particular environmental importance for thousands of years. Along the lake, there are oak trees, chestnut trees, walnuts, laurels and ruins of monuments of the Byzantine period and the ancient cities of Aetolians. Lake Trichonida is considered one of the cleanest lakes in the country. Underground streams, calcareous marshes and reeds surrounding it contribute to maintaining the purity of its water. A characteristic number of species find shelter in this lake- about 200 species of birds and 25 species of fish. After the lake, you can make a stop at Karpenissi. Karpenissi is a lovely winter destination. Wonderful landscapes, and burning fireplaces that call the traveller to come and rest in a welcoming corner in order to enjoy the tranquillity and the fruits of his labours. The landscape in Evritania appears to be transformed during winter as soon as it is covered with snow. It is then when the visitor feels distant from reality and starts to enter into a strange and fantastic world. The modern venues, especially the new hotels around the city of Karpenissi, are constantly connected with scenic cafes and traditional taverns throughout the area. You will love it.

Mountain Mainalo-Foloi
The most beautiful road trip of the Peloponnese. Starting from Megalopoli, drive to Karytaina and Andritsaina and then continue towards Ancient Olympia. From there head to the majestic forest of Foloi. One more surprise awaits for you there... It is non-other than the destination of Neraida (Fairy). Calculate 127km full of beautiful surprises and vibrant scenery. Τhe scents of nature invade as you open your car's windows, along with the images of the mountain of Mainalo, which rises up to 1,900 m and covers almost the whole region of Arcadia with its size. Mountainous Arcadia and the enchanting Mainalo, as well as the beautiful villages hiding in the numerous shades of its volume, are one of the most desirable winter destinations of many visitors each year. The traditional mansions and hotels, welcome thousands of travellers, while in their picturesque taverns you will find the most delicious meze dishes. The dense forests, the crystal clear waters of Lousios river and the local products of the area are only some of the reasons that magnetize so many visitors. The great tourist development regarding the villages of Mainalo came when the Tripoli-Olympia National Road was rebuilt. A beautiful stretch of several kilometres, in the shade of the mountain, which makes the natural beauty of the landscape even more exciting. 

Thessaloniki-Kavala-Xanthi-Pomakochoria (Pomak Villages)
Who could say no to a route that starts with a city break? Thessaloniki is definitely worth a three-day visit, but if you do not have enough time to dedicate it to the 24-hour basics could do the trick. The Pomak villages seem as if time has stopped somewhere in the past century, and that's why it's one of the most interesting places you'll ever see. Resist the short route and prefer to do the cycle. Go through Toxotes (Archers) and ride your car along Nestos river. The landscapes will excite you and you will not want this road trip to end. When you arrive at Stavroupoli, head towards Sminthi and Echinos, and from there you can reach Thermi and the beautiful Cotani. You will taste the best curry kebab in the area when you reach Cotani, right next to the Greek-Bulgarian border. In between, Kavala and Xanthi, two cities-true hidden gems, one in Macedonia region and the other in Thrace, the first one on the sea, the other built on the banks of a river. They will enchant you with their old neighbourhoods and their multicultural heritage... They are ideal destinations for hikers. You will enjoy walking on cobbled streets and trying its exceptional food. In fact, the food delicacies are so incredible and dazzling that they will leave you speechless. 

The Egnatia
Tunnels covered with spruce, forests and rivers. 608 km from Igoumenitsa to Evros that will show you many times that Greece is one of the most beloved travel gems in the world. This route needs days in order for you to take in all its beauty; it is not just a weekend escape. Spend more days and bring with you some extra memory cards so as to save your photos. Then, when you will want to talk about your experience with your friends you will have more than just words. As the known quote says "a picture is worth a thousand words". The recent completion of Egnatia Highway brings some of the best Greek destinations closer than ever.
