Because Okay is Not Okay: Building a Remarkable Brand

by Rasha Tiozon Online Media Specialist, Writer

As the market gets too crowded and consumers get a little too busy to notice the differences between brands, how can you be able to make your product stand out among the others?

Simple, build a remarkable brand. Though the process to be one is not going to be simple, if you nailed it right, the result is going to be overwhelming you’ll be tempted to do it again. So, here are some tips to start reinventing your “okay” brand into something more than just okay.

You will never be good enough.

Stop making brands that are good enough for your market because chances are, nothing will ever be good enough for them. Don’t settle for something you think is fine. If you think twice about your product, change it. Look at it again. There must be something you can do for you to instantly say it’s more than good enough.

Don’t create a me-too product.

Stop being a me-too product. The market is already saturated. People are tired of different brands offering the same product and service. Like, seriously, there’s no distinction at all. Stand out. Be different. If another company have offered a serviced office, tweak it a little, make yours a virtual one.

It’s endless.

Stop treating product quality as a means to an end. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a discipline. This should be the way of life of your company. Your brand should be oozing of quality, it is what makes it remarkable.

Be fearless, not reckless.

There is a thin line between fearless and reckless. You won’t go into the field and fight with your opponent without a weapon, that’s recklessness. You have to prepare, plan, and strategize. Being fearless is being able to calculate the risks and take it without worrying about the result.

Take good care of the fandom.

Fandom is a group of people who are obsessed into something. If you’re in the coffee industry, take good care of the ones who drink coffee as if caffeine is a natural part of their system. They’ll be your allies, they’ll spread the word about your brand. They’re going to be a big part of your success into being remarkable.

Go the extra mile.

How would you know what your customers want? Put yourself in their shoes. Now, think of what would you like the staff to do as you enter the store. You want them to go the extra mile for you, right? This way, you feel appreciated and valued as a customer.

Keep moving.

Being remarkable isn’t forever. You may be remarkable today but if you don’t act and do something remarkable again, your brand will end up being ordinary. It’s a continuous cycle of exerting time and efforts.

Remember what Seth Godin wrote in his books, “The leader is the leader because he did something remarkable. And that remarkable thing is now taken - it’s no longer remarkable when you do it.”
