Barrel Mounted Motorized Grease Transfer Pump & Other Lubrication Systems

by Crazzy Paul Digital Markting Professional
The main reason why lubrication systems are used is to bring down the friction between the various parts in a machine thereby reducing its wear and tear, through the supply of lubricating oil to multiple machine locations. Let’s take a look at some of the lubrication systems.

Barrel mounted motorized grease transfer pump:

Such lubrication systems have an SS filter gauge, a drum cover, a pressure gauge along with a pressure relieve valve. This arrangement is designed mainly for grease barrel that qualifies as a standard one having 180 kg capacity. The manufacturers claim to use the best raw materials and manufacture each unit following strict guidelines and under stringent expert vigilance. These grease transfer pumps are employed in fields devoid of pneumatic lines. Hose, grease gun, hose reel, etc are available for motorised grease transfer pumps as per the requirement.

The design is such that the barrel transfers grease to the lubrication station reservoir which is centralized. The pump gets driven through a top placed motor mounted on a flange, while the pump itself is positioned beneath a barrel typically having a long length. A hose is provided along with a grease filter to deliver the grease effectively.

Motorised grease transfer pump assembly is classified into the following parts:
  • Grease drum Press assembly
  • Pneumatic oil transfer pump
  • Pneumatic grease transfer pump

This entire assembly comes as both single phase and 3 phase motors. They can be located and fitted over buckets and standard barrels and are available in battery operated versions as well.

Applications include grease transferring, lubrication from point to point, girth gear lubrication & dual line systems for lubrication.

Girth gear lubrication system:

Girth gears are mainly used in situations where heavy loads are required to be carried in tubular kilns, winches at water bodies and tube mills. In such systems, gears can be of huge dimensions which necessitate the protection of gear teeth from adverse effects of external media. Additionally, gear drives are mostly subjected to strong shock loads. Girth gear lubrication is of utmost importance in all stages of operation as it is crucial to the entire system’s working.

There are various girth gear lubrication systems available by different manufacturers ensuring extended service life and protection against wearing of girth gears. There are special types of adhesive lubricants available for various functions involved like priming, operational lubrication and running-in.

Applications involving the use of gear girth lubrication systems are open drives maintenance and inspection, gear drive smoothing as well as its mechanical treatment for minor damage with the use of special grinding procedure carried out chemically. Running-in lubrication is another popular gear girth lubrication application.
