APS Certificate is Mandatory for German Student Visa

If you are applying for a German student visa, it is now mandatory for Indian students to get APS (Academic Evaluation Centre) assessment and authenticity certificates for their academic records.

The German Missions in India have announced that APS certificates will be mandatory to submit along with a visa application from 1 November. Starting on 1 October, APS will begin receiving applications.

As a course progresses, more and more requirements are introduced. In order to maintain an APS certification, students must comply with these requirements. An APS certificate is required for courses that exceed 90 days in length and not for shorter-term courses.

What is an APS certificate?

An APS certificate is crucial for an international student’s visa application. With it, students can prove their degree's authenticity and eligibility to pursue studies in Germany. The center verifies the formal applications of students applying for higher education in Germany who hold a Chinese, Indian or Vietnamese university degree.

Here is how to apply for an APS certificate

You can register for the APS certificate online at www.aps-india.de, print the document, and sign it. Your application will be invalid when you include incomplete or incorrect information.

The application form can be submitted with other required documents via courier or in person at the reception desk of APS India. The APS procedure fee of ₹18,000 is to be deposited into the APS account.

On completion of the document verification, the department will update your online profile with the verification outcome.

What are the documents that need to be submitted?

Duly filled and signed application form with a passport-size photo
Copy of passport (1st and last page)
Copy of Aadhaar card with linked mobile number
Copy of mark sheets and degree certificate
Copy of language certificate – German or English
Copy of APS fee transfer receipt

Students should expect to receive their APS certificate within two weeks after the submission of documents. After receiving an APS certificate, it will be valid for an indefinite amount of time.
