Andile Ncgaba advocates wider support to start-ups and SMMEs
by Johnse Na Andile NgcabaAndile Abner Ngcaba, a South African businessman,
Director General, Postmaster General of the Nelson Mandela Government & the
council president of The Digital Council Africa recently told the sources that
the council is working with several companies in the industry to make sure
start-ups and SMMEs are supported.
He further added that besides, the fiber industry needs to
start considering venture capital funds to be able to drive growth, especially
after Covid-19.
Ngcaba made the remarks during his introductory speech at
the virtual FibreCONEXT2020 conference.
In Ncgaba's view, an initiative for SMMEs and start-ups has
been on the list of priorities of Digital Council Africa’s agenda. Furthermore,
he stated that they are initiating a program to work with several companies
& want to lessen the paying of their SMMEs and start-ups to less than 30
days.
In his opinion, the only way to make this industry grow is to
stimulate start-ups and SMMEs, & by developing venture capital funds to ensure
that they not only grow big firms, but also the ones who are starting up and
entering the industry.
Andile Ngcaba has also been in news for a while
regarding the case that he has filed against DiData.
Ncgaba, who served as
the executive chairperson of Dimension Data for the Middle East and Africa from
2004 to 2017, has sued the company for failing to honor its agreement for a
fair and equal percentage of remuneration and is claiming for equal pay between
him and & his white colleagues, who were paid more than him.
On the other hand, Dimension Data has condemned
allegations of institutional racism by Andile Ngcaba as false and unreasonable.
Data and Ngcaba have been engaged in a disagreement for
at least three years after the former chairperson of it’s the Middle East and
Africa region blamed the company for breaking the agreement of an equal pay and
of racial discrimination.
