All about Hemp.
by Digital Solution Expert Digital Solution ExpertSince the bill for legalization
for cannabinoids and CBD products has been passed, there has been a boost in
the production of industrial hemp. The same is true for the state of Nevada. As
cannabinoids have been populating the drug market, seeds of medicinal hemp have
been populating the farmlands.
Uses of Medicinal Hemp:
Cannabinoids can be helpful in many ways. Cannabinoids possess the potential to
cure many diseases like Asperger’s syndrome, epilepsies, Alzheimer’s disease,
many cancers, eating disorders, glaucoma, schizophrenia, PTSD, and plentiful of
others. Medicinal hemp is thus grown and extracted to cure various ailments.
Various forms of the drug are available like edibles, seed oil, seed oil
tinctures, topical, ointments, and others.
Industrial Hemp Program:
The Industrial Hemp Program has been
developed to assist the agricultural income of farmers, provide diligent and
robust treatment to the existing ailments like health diseases, mental
diseases, and others. To provide impetus to growth, economy, and healthcare,
Nevada has legalized regulated production of hemp. The state allows research ad
pilot projects for which proper permission has to be obtained. The products
consist of growing hemp plants. Various parts of the hemp plant are used for
various edibles, tinctures, topical, and other products. Hemp seeds are used to
extract oils from the seeds and that oil is further used for the manufacturing
of tinctures, edibles, topical, and other products.
The seeds can be obtained from
the market, other growers or through NDA – Nevada Department of Agriculture.
The intensions of NDA are to provide a multiplicity of crop production to the
farmers.
Farm Bill: A 2014 Farm Bill in
section 7606 authorizes institutions of higher education or state departments
of agriculture in states that have legalized hemp cultivation to conduct
research and pilot programs. Thus there aren’t the restrictions that were
imposed earlier on production or sale of hemp. The bill denotes hemp as
Cannabis Sativa, which belongs to the plant family Cannabaceae. Hemp can be
cultivated for its fibber, its seeds, leaves, stem, and flowers or to be reaped
as a whole. However, all of this must be after the regulations observed by the
state of Nevada.
The hemp seeds cost around $ 5
per pound which includes the cost of the seeds and the NDA surcharge. The
sowing of hemp seeds can be done by a proportion of 25 pounds per acre. The NDA
has no rules about the quantity of production of hemp or retention of hemp
seeds.
Hemp seeds:
Many types of research have shown
that hemp seeds aid in relief in pain. Those are thus useful in many pain
killing drugs. Many a time the seeds are used in producing therapeutic drugs
for various aforementioned diseases. Many a time the extraction from seeds is
used in medicines of palliative care.
Responsibilities:
It is the State’s responsibility
to issue licenses to qualifying programs and worthy candidates. The state must
import qualitative seed varieties, conduct testing on active fields, regulate
the quality of products, observe the qualitative analysis of the seeds, plants,
extracts, and products. The state also requires to monitor the supply chain,
keep a check on black marketing or other unfair practices. The state further
requires to crack down on illegal or abusive or excessive use of the product
and prevent the hoarding of the products.
The Nevada Department of
Agriculture needs to conduct research on the active fields of agriculture and
ensure that the biomass content does not contain more than 0.3% of THC. The
department further must develop testing requirements for the product and act as
a liaison and support the industry and work for its betterment.
