AICTE PG (GATE/GPAT) Scholarship: All You Need to Know

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the AICTE PG (GATE/GPAT) Scholarship 2017-18 for disbursement of Post Graduate Scholarships to students admitted in AICTE approved programmes of M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharma through direct benefit transfer for the 1st year students of the academic year 2017-18.

 

Objective

The main aim of this scholarship is to provide financial support to those students who are economically weak. Simple and few steps need to be followed by the candidates in order to avail this scholarship. The scholarship is for students who have taken admission in AICTE approved institutes in courses such as ME, MTech, and MPharm.

 

Another objective is to develop quality technical education and offer financial help to bright students through their AICTE GATE/GPAT Scholarship scheme. The duration of the scholarship scheme is maximum 24 months.

 

Who can apply

To be eligible for this gate scholarship, a candidate must have obtained qualifying marks in GATE/GPAT

Have taken admission in the 1st year of M.Tech./M.E./M.Pharma at an AICTE recognized institution.

Have a general saving account in the bank.

Candidates admitted for part-time courses are not eligible to apply.

Joint accounts are not permitted for the scholarship.

Creamy layer OBC candidates who had qualified under OBC category are not eligible to apply.

Candidates qualified under SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped not having an authentic certificate are also not eligible.

 

How to apply

To apply for this Gate scholarship, candidates need to visit the AICTE website http://www.aicte-india.org to fill the registration form.

The candidates need Institute ID for filling the registration form which the candidates can get on the AICTE portal.

Now the candidates need to get their Student ID for further steps.

The candidates need to fill in some details in order to get Student ID.

Now the candidates need to verify their ID by filling out the relevant details.

After submitting various details, candidates will be redirected to a new page.

Candidates need to fill their GATE/GPAT exam details and various other details and click on the submit button.

 

Documents required

Candidates applying for this Gate scholarship need to submit the following documents along with the application form. All the Post Graduate students having valid GATE/GPAT score and admitted in AICTE approved programmes should collect the Unique ID from the institute and log in on the AICTE Web portal www.aicte-india.org for uploading the documents.

Photo Copy of GATE/GPAT Score Card

Photo Copy of SBI Bank Passbook

Category Certificate (Mandatory if ‘Category as per GATE/GPAT scorecard’ is ‘OBC’ or ‘SC’ or ‘ST’ or ‘PD’)

Aadhar Card Copy (Mandatory if ‘Do you have Aadhar Card?’ is ‘Yes’)

Physically Disabled Certificate (Mandatory if ‘Physically Disabled’ is ‘Y’)

NPR Card Copy (Mandatory if ‘Do you have National Population Register (NPR) Card?’ is ‘Yes’)

 

Selection process

All the Institutes will upload the eligible PG Student’s details on the AICTE portal and distribute student’s Unique ID generated by the system to all the PG students admitted in AICTE approved programmes/ Institutions during 2017-18. To award the scholarship, the institute shall verify the student data and approve his/her candidature on the portal.
