Adam Clarke on Common CEO Missteps

by MC P. Marketing

C-level executives are not perfect. They make mistakes too! Here’s a simple list of all their common mistakes, concluded by Macropay’s Founder & CEO Adam Clarke.

Mistake # 1 - Not Monitoring Personal Health

Your team is your business and if you're not healthy, then that affects your whole operations. A serious illness can definitely ruin all the progress made, as well as put a halt to any trajectory you have toward better success!

Mistake # 2 - No Day Offs

There's no better way to recharge than with some time for yourself, so take a break and enjoy life!

CEO's often overlook the importance of play in their life. Play can be about doing something for fun and not because it will help move your business forward or meet family needs; just a break from all pressures that come with running/scaling companies!

Mistake # 3 - Becoming the Company Bottleneck

Building an awesome team is the best way for CEOs to run their companies. This means that not only do they need great people under them, but also strong leaders who can hold each other accountable and help drive success for the business venture.

As the CEO of your company, you are in charge. You need to build an executive team that is accountable for their decisions so they can make bold moves without getting permission first.

By not building an executive team where your executives are accountable for the work that they do, all decisions go through you. You become a bottleneck in company operations; everything needs approval and nothing will move without it.

Mistake # 4 -  Not Firing Right Away

It's easy to be too blame when someone doesn't work out. Entrepreneurs know from day one if a worker is not right for them, but instead of just letting people go in order to improve culture and morale around the company - they hesitate!

Hoping that the hire would eventually be valuable is not a bad thing. However, retaining the unfit talent without a training plan just ensures that both the talent and the company will suffer together.

Mistake # 5 - Giving More Work To Overperformers

The best businesses are those that take the time to understand their employees needs and desires. Employees will not stay in an environment where they feel like there's constant pressure from management. If workers are already performing way above average on a regular basis but are still getting asked by managers to do more, you cannot blame them for leaving.

Conclusion

The common mistakes that CEOs make are not unavoidable, but they can be difficult to spot while it's happening. Being aware of these errors to save you from making an expensive error.

Macropay’s Founder & CEO, Adam J Clarke, is no stranger to business errors. However, he highlights that what makes successful entrepreneurs is their ability to “get back up again after getting knocked over countless times.
