Stiller’s
Entry In Comedy
The native of
New York had got his interest to do comedy shows early, who had got
inspired by listening to the comedian, Eddie Canton, every Sunday night on the
radio. In the year 2010, Stiller had told the website clevelandseniors.com that
he could easily identify with Cantor as he had come from the place, Lower
East Side, where he was brought up. Stiller further went on to say that
Cantor was Jewish and he had worked his way up from a waiter who used to sing.
According to Stiller, Cantor carried with him plenty of joy and energy.
Stiller was the eldest of three children. He used to watch his
father go through his struggles as an unemployed bus driver. Jerry Stiller even
used Hollywood as a way to escape as the family moved around different places
quite a bit. Stiller said that he was brought up along with Andy Hardy as well
as The Hardy family, who used to be part of the Andy Hardy movie series
that starred Mickey Rooney. He even wished to be like them and wanted to stay
in Harpersfield.
Once he had
spent some time in the Army, Stiller did different kinds of jobs including
selling ice cream, washing windows, and even driving a bus. He had studied
drama at Syracuse University and began his acting career. This was the craft
that allowed him to get introduced to his love as he had met Meara at the
office of an agent and married her soon after that.
