According to Astrological concept- ROLE OF SATURN

Human life is the interplay of joys and sorrows. While the pleasures of life and its comforts are represented in Astrology by the planet Jupiter, the sorrows, diseases, and toils of life are described in the birth chart by the planet Saturn. 

Saturn, being the farthest planet from the Sun, is devoid of the power of luminance. Saturn vibrates without the light on knowledge with least rhythms and frequency. Saturn's influence on the house of education, therefore, adversely affects education though it does not deny it altogether.

Inadequate education makes one selfish and needy in wealth.

"paucity" in all fields of human activity is denoted by this planet of dearth. Therefore, when Saturn conjoined with Rahu (who always acts similarly to Saturn) influences, by association or aspect, the factors for wealth, i.e., the second house, its lord and Jupiter (particularly in cases where Saturn is the lord of the 6th house-a house of "paucity" and "dearth"), it brings about dearth of wealth and makes the native rather poor.

Saturn represents hardships and labours in the native's career, influence the houses of wealth or their lords. Such a person has to toil much in life, though he may be engaged in a white-collared job.

The motion of Saturn is languid. Saturn takes two and half years to traverse a distance of 300 degrees which the Moon covers only in about two and a half days. Saturn thus symbolizes "delay" Hence if you mind the influence of Saturn and Rahu on the factors of marriage, i.e., the 7th house, its lord and its significations (Venus for male nativities and Jupiter for female nativities) you can be sure that it is a case of delayed marriage. Marriage may even be denied altogether in case the malefic influence of these factors is great and the beneficial influence absent.

Saturn is taken as on "Old" entity, person or thing. If therefore, Saturn is found to influence the factors of marriage, i.e., the 7th house, its lord and its significator, in collaboration with the other "Old" planets such as the Sun and Jupiter, the girl, if she marries, will marry a person much older to her in age.

The slow motion of Saturn, however, makes it a desirable instrument for prolonging longevity. In other words, a strong Saturn in the birth chart ensures fairly good longevity unless; the first and the 8th house of the horoscope and their lords are extremely weak and afflicted.

In Astrology, Saturn is considered as the significator for the duration of stay on the earth.   If in a male with a Leo the Ascendant, we find the Sun strong and well-expected, we could infer for him high status in life, but the native will be married to a girl belonging to a family very much lower in status particularly where Saturn is subjected to the influence of other malefic planets.

Saturn has been observed to be "Separative" in nature, that is it separates a nature, that is it separates a native from the traits of the house, etc.,

Which it influences by association or by expects such influence will be more pronounced, if it works in collaboration with other separative planets, Rahu influence the 7th house, its lord and its significator, one is quite sure to get separated from his partner in life if they influence the 10th house, its lord and the Sun, one loses his position. If they influence, by association or expect the 5th house and its lord, one has many abortions. If the influence falls on the 4th house and its lord, he will establish residence at a place far away from his place of birth.

Saturn is the significator of "Disease" as is Rahu. If both of them afflict a particular house, the limb represented by that house is diseased and even impaired. For example, in a Virgo nativity, Saturn as lord of the 6th house denotes diseases, and if Rahu occupies the 7th house, in the horoscope, it will give trouble in the hips, 9th house, in the ears, 3rd house, and 11th house, etc.

   

Numbers tenth and eleventh each of these signs represent the legs hence a weak and afflicted Saturn would cause some problem in the legs. For example, if someone has Aquarius as his Ascendant and Saturn is located in Leo in his birth chart with Rahu without the association or aspect of the benefic planets, the native gets much trouble in his legs and in cases where the malefic influence on Saturn is sever his legs are prone to Cancer. Amongst the tissues, Saturn represents the "Nerves" and so does Rahu. If both influence by association or aspect the Ascendants and their lords, one gets his nerves impaired and suffer from a "stroke" or paralysis" etc. Saturn located in the 11th house may indicate death by paralysis, if Rahu afflicts both the 8th house and its lord, Saturn gives tall stature and a slim body.

Saturn is a planet of philosophy and possesses much vairagya, i.e., detachment. If Saturn and Rahu influence, by association or by aspect, the first and the fourth houses of the horoscope, on their lords and the Moon –the significator of mind –then the man possesses much vairagya.

Saturn behaves as a female planet though is placed in Cancer in the 10th house, the person will have several daughters. If Saturn is placed with the Sun in the natal chart, the Saturn is the significator for the property, particularly the barren or cultivable lands, with alluvial soil. Mars, too, stands for the property, mainly constructed property, multi-storeyed flats, etc. When both Saturn and Mars influence, by association or by aspect, the 4th house, the more the number of houses/ property, the native gets in life.

Saturn denotes shortage of sex, and the inability to enjoy sex fully. Like Saturn, Mercury act together on the factors indicating sex, i.e., on the 7th house, its lord and the significator and there is no other type of influence on the sex factors, the native becomes important.

Saturn denotes dead or decomposed matter such as coal, leather, stone, marble, etc. when it is lord of the house of trade, i.e., the 7th house; it denotes profession in one of these articles. If Venus happens to occupy the sign of Saturn in the 7th house, the stone here is modified and refined by Venus into a precious gem or a jewel. Saturn is a retarding factor. Rahu, too, retains restrictive nature. When Rahu or Saturn has its influence of the 12th house and its lord and when they cast the spell of their influence on the factors representing the body, they will send him to a person or to a strange distant place for settlement.

Saturn, the Sun and Rahu are planets for medicine and its analysis. When they influence the house of education, i.e., the 2nd house and its lord who is strong, they impart medical education to the native. When they influence the Ascendant and its lord, it infers that the subject will practice in the medical line. When both Mars and Saturn have their influence on the 2nd house and its lord, the nature of education becomes "technical" such as engineering. Saturn, lord of the 4th house, is located in the 10th house, (as the 4th house is the nadir and the 10th one the zenith). The rise of a low planet from a shallow position to the pinnacle signified by the 10th house gives the significant growth.

Let us now analyze the role of Saturn in the horoscope with different Ascendants.

Saturn becomes the lord of the 10th and the 11th houses. It primarily gives the beneficial results of the house of gains, i.e., the 11th house, if well placed.
