A Guide to John Deere Combine Settings

by Jd Combine Estes Performance Concaves
John Deere combine harvester is one of the important innovations that has made life easy for farmers. The harvester allows farmers to carry out harvest operations easily through mechanization. It reduces their manual effort, speeds up work, and increases the yield. This is the reason this harvester is one of the most popular equipment in the world. An important aspect of the equipment is the John Deere combine settings. The harvester has multiple settings that play an important role in the use of this machine.

The importance of settings

John Deere combine settings can be used to increase productivity and optimize the use of the harvester. The settings are usually made when the installation of the machinery is done at the time of delivery. The settings depend on the crops to be harvested. Once the settings are made, it may not be required to change the settings unless different crops are being harvested. It is very important to make the right settings to get optimum yield and ensure the crop quality is good.

Here, what needs to be remembered is that the combine is not one equipment but many machines working as one unit. To ensure each of the component machines works effectively, it is important that the settings are done correctly. Settings are nothing but making adjustments and changing the configuration of the equipment. It should be done referring to the manual and taking help of experts.

Tips on using the settings

The following are tips that can be kept in mind for making the John Deere combine settings:

• One of the first things to do is set the ground speed operations. This is a variable setting and the convenience of the operator decides the settings.

• The concave clearance in the machine must match the size of the cob, namely the diameter. If the settings are such that the clearance is too tight, then the cob can crack and the grains may be damaged or fall off. The concave needs to set open and the rotor speed should not be too fast.

• The header settings are important because more than 80% of the grain loss takes place at this stage. The header needs to be adjusted so that it feeds the crop in the right direction and consistently. This can prevent grain loss.

• One more header related setting is the feeder house chain settings. If there are retractable fingers within the auger, then the feeder house chain position should be up else it should be down.

• The header auger speed must not exceed 200 revolutions per minute. This slow speed ensures the grain is properly removed from the head.

• One of the important things to do while carrying out settings is to ensure that adjustments are done one at a time so that its effect can be tested before finalizing.

John Deere combine settings play a key role in improved productivity during harvesting while operating the machine. The tips in the article can be referred while making the settings.
