A guide to getting great customer reviews

Online customer reviews are the modern-day equivalent of word-of-mouth reviews. People are not just relying on advice from friends and family but are keen on doing their research.

Customer reviews can be a great pillar in building your marketing strategy. However, if you’re not getting enough of them, probably you’re not putting the best practices to use. Here’s a guide that will get you started or help you get more reviews for business growth.

What is your customer experiencing?

Getting positive reviews becomes a cakewalk if your service is exceptional. Everyone wants to be seen and heard. If you are going above and beyond and constantly working on enhancing customer satisfaction; they would be proud to announce themselves as your happy customers.

Did you ask your customers to write reviews for you?

The easiest tactic to get great customer reviews is to ask.

They are more likely to leave reviews when asked to do so. This will not only help you improve customer experiences but will also make them feel that your business is not just about making money. Your business cares about its customers and values their opinion.

Is your reviewing process easy-peasy lemon squeezy?

No one out there wants to go through a messy trail that feels like a long registration process.

Your reviewing procedure should be easy to follow, even a 10-year-old should be able to do that. A touch of personalization will go a long way. You can add star ratings or sliders or even make your own terminology that engages with your audience.

Are you responding to customer reviews?

Getting online reviews is one thing and taking action on them is another.

A happy customer may need a prompt to post a review, but an unhappy customer most certainly does not.

How you are responding to customer reviews will be a defining factor in building online reputation for your brand. The same message for all the reviews will not be very helpful. Your customers should feel their voice is reaching a listener and not a computer bot.

Are you incentivizing your customer for their review?

Some of your customers are already spreading the word for your brand and you can make them even more motivated with incentive.

You can give your customers loyalty points, a small discount, or even make them a part of your special club (make one, if you already don't have it). Providing early access to your launches to these customers evokes a sense of exclusivity in them.
